Patent number: 7952480Abstract: A Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system that tracks tags in real-time based on EPC codes and on other priority codes written into transponder memory fields of the tags. As an example, a priority code may be written into a memory of an RFID transponder identifying a high-value item or a small high-value item that is likely to be stolen. Based on the use of this priority code, those items can be preferentially tracked as opposed to items of low value or size such that they are unlikely to be stolen. Such use of priority codes and local filtering alleviates the need to go back to large centralized databases associating unique numbers with other parameters and potentially the history of the item.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 2008Date of Patent: May 31, 2011Assignee: Technology, Patents & Licensing, Inc.Inventors: Peter J. Patent number: 7738704Abstract: In general, in one aspect, the disclosure describes a method for detecting a known video entity within a video stream. The method includes receiving a video stream and continually creating statistical parameterized representations for windows of the video stream. The statistical parameterized representation windows are continually compared to windows of a plurality of fingerprints. Each of the plurality of fingerprints includes associated statistical parameterized representations of a known video entity. A known video entity in the video stream is detected when a particular fingerprint of the plurality of fingerprints has at least a threshold level of similarity with the video stream.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 2005Date of Patent: June 15, 2010Assignee: Technology, Patents and Licensing, Inc.Inventors: Rainer W.
