  • Patent number: 5932076
Abstract: An electroforming apparatus, in particular for the manufacture of CD/LD data media molding tools, comprises an anode assembly and a rotatable cathode assembly spaced therefrom, and a stationary nozzle means for ejecting an electrolytic fluid into the space between the anode and cathode assemblies. An annular part of the cathode assembly surrounding a molding tool blank is penetrated by a plurality of circumferentially distributed flow passages, the inlet ends thereof are disposed to successively come into alignment with the nozzle means upon rotation of the cathode assembly so that the electrolytic fluid ejected from the nozzle means is received by the flow passages and guided thereby into the space between the anode and cathode assemblies. The width of the spac can thereby substantially be minimized.

  • Patent number: 5833828
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for thermal process control in electroforming stampers for the production of CD/LD data carriers or the like. The temperature of an electrolytic solution in an electroforming cell is maintained at a value nearest a specific maximum temperature by raising or lowering the temperature of the electrolytic solution in a storage tank provided outside of the electroforming cell as a function of the temperature measured in a cathode space of the electroforming cell. A temperature sensor is disposed in or near the cathode space adjacent an electrolyte injection nozzle in a space between the anode and cathode means for supplying signals to a control unit. The temperature sensor and the injection nozzle are preferably assembled into a single mounting unit. The electroforming process can thus be run with an optimum effectivity in the vicinity of a maximum permissible temperature of the electrolytic solution.

  • Patent number: 5720221
Abstract: An assembly for controlling the temperature of a fountain fluid and/or selected drums of a printing machine comprises a fountain fluid circulating system for supplying a fountain fluid application means with a fountain fluid, a cooling fluid circulating system for supplying a drum cooling means with a cooling fluid, a first internal cold source which is in heat-exchanging relationship with the fountain fluid circulating system, a second external cold source which is in heat-exchanging relationship with the cooling fluid circulating system, and a means for selectively operating one of the circulating systems, for the fountain fluid or the cooling fluid, or both of these circulating systems. Further the condenser means of the first cold source is in heat-exchanging relationship with the refrigerant circulating system of the second cold source. The temperature controlling assembly thereby allows the requirements for cooling energy to be precisely matched to the currently effective operational mode.

  • Patent number: 5657637
Abstract: An assembly for temperature control of a fountain (dampening) fluid and/or selected rolls of a printing press, comprising a first open-circuit circulating system (U.sub.I) for supplying a fountain fluid application mechanism with a fountain fluid from a fountain fluid reservoir and a second closed-circuit circulating system (U.sub.II) for supplying a roll cooling mechanism with a cooling fluid. Each circulating system (U.sub.I, U.sub.II) is assigned a heat exchanger (3,4). The heat exchangers (3,4) receive refrigerant from a refrigeration mechanism having a power-switchable compressor (10) including a refrigerant return, thus enabling a refrigeration output to be adapted to demands in selectable operating modes "fountain-fluid cooling only", "cooling-fluid cooling only" or "fountain-fluid and cooling-fluid cooling".

  • Patent number: 5177975
Abstract: Apparatus for preparation of process water for presses, such as printing presses, or the like, including conditioning apparatus for conditioning the process water and cooling apparatus for cooling the process water, comprise a housing (1) which is spatially divided into upper and lower housing spaces (A, B), with the conditioning apparatus (2, 3, 4, 8, 13, 22-24) arranged in the lower housing space (B) and the cooling apparatus (9, 10) and a fan arrangement (11, 12) to produce a substantially upwardly directed exhaust stream of cooling air out of the housing arranged in the upper housing space (A). The cooling apparatus includes a refrigeration condenser arranged close to a cooling-air exhaust opening (12) at an upper side of the housing (1) so that the refrigeration condenser is subjected to cool air before it exits into a surrounding space.
