    Abstract: A hard hat worn by an individual includes a crown and a visor to protect a region of a face of the individual. A cheek plate is movable between a retracted position and a protective position in which the cheek plate is arranged at least partially around the visor. An articulation system articulates the cheek plate with respect to the crown. The articulation system guides movement of the cheek plate, and includes a clamp to clamp the cheek plate against the visor when the cheek plate is close to or in the protective position.
