Abstract: A cylinder liner for use in an internal combustion engine having a cylinder block with a cylinder bore adapted to carry a piston therein. The liner comprises a body formed from a powdered metal material, the body formed therefrom being rigid and wear resistant. The body comprises a smooth, inner, piston-directing surface; an outer, cylinder bore-contacting surface; and an upper, combustion containing area. A mechanism is provided for improving transfer of heat from the combustion containing area to the cylinder block. A mechanism, disposed within the piston-directing surface, is provided for improving piston scuff resistance while maintaining piston-directing surface smoothness.

Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for producing composite cylinders having cylinder walls comprised of two adjacent diverse layers of metal material which are bonded together by application of radial forces thereto and then sintered to complete the bonding process. Mechanical locking of the layers is achieved by grain interlocking between the two layers of metal material.

Abstract: A side bracket for netting has a top, a bottom, two opposed sides, a plurality of net loops extending along the netting top, bottom and sides, and an elastic cord threaded through at least one of the top and bottom net loops. The bracket comprises a base having two opposed ends and located adjacent at least one of the netting sides. A net loop receiving member is disposed between the two ends. A housing is provided for the elastic cord. The bracket further comprises a mechanism for attaching the cord housing to the base, and a mechanism for attaching the netting to a desired surface. A process for assembling the netting to the bracket comprises the step of placing a row of side net loops over a corresponding number of net loop receiving members.
Abstract: A storage net useful in the storage area of a motor vehicle is disclosed. The storage net comprises a storage area having a front, a back and two sides, the front and back being pivotally connected at one end. A mechanism is included for providing a predetermined amount of longitudinal elasticity to the storage area. Further, the storage net comprises a mechanism for removably attaching the storage area to a desired surface or to the stowage area.
