Abstract: A cargo securing device, a tonneau cover system comprising the cargo securing device, and a method of using the cargo securing device. The tonneau cover system includes a tonneau cover assembly having a tonneau cover and opposing frame rails supporting the tonneau cover on a cargo area of a vehicle. The cargo securing device includes a sleeve and an opening that provides access into the sleeve. The sleeve receives one or more panels of the tonneau cover so that the sleeve surrounds at least a portion of the one or more panels. The cargo securing device can be employed to secure cargo within the cargo area.

Abstract: A frame rail assembly for supporting a tonneau cover comprising: opposing frame rails locatable on a cargo area of a vehicle, each of the opposing frame rails having one or more slots formed therein; and one or more inserts that fit within the one or more slots respectively; wherein the one or more inserts are shaped to fit substantially flush with a transverse cross-sectional profile of the opposing frame rails.

Abstract: A tonneau cover that includes a first panel, a second panel, a hinge between the first panel and the second panel, and a torsion element between the first panel and the second panel. The torsion element applies an urging force onto one or both of the first panel and the second panel during movement of the first panel and/or the second panel about the hinge.

Abstract: A latch system for a tonneau cover. The latch system includes a handle that is configured to move about an axis; and a latch pin connected to the handle. The latch pin is configured to move in a retracted direction and during movement of the handle towards the tonneau cover.

Abstract: A tonneau system comprising: (a) a plurality of tonneau sections; (b) a retraction system including: (i) a drive roller; (ii) a pulley spaced apart from the drive roller; (iii) a track extending from a location proximate to the drive roller to a location proximate to the pulley; and (iv) a line connected to the drive roller and one or more of the plurality of tonneau sections; wherein the line extends between the one or more of the plurality of tonneau sections and the driver roller when the plurality of tonneau sections are in the closed position, and the line extends from the one or more of the plurality of tonneau sections around the pulley and to the drive roller when the plurality of tonneau sections are in the stored position.

Abstract: An assembly for opening and closing a tonneau cover. The assembly having a plate; a latch in communication with the plate, the latch having a finger that is adapted to engage the tonneau cover; and a shaft that is connected to the plate at one end, and at another end, the shaft has a pin that is adapted to engage a slot defined in the latch. Application of a force on the plate in a first direction causes the plate to move in the first direction, which causes the latch to move in a second direction so that the tonneau cover is moved into a closed configuration. Removal of the force from the plate causes the plate to move in a third direction, which causes the latch to move in a fourth direction so that the tonneau cover is moved into an open configuration.

Abstract: A tonneau cover that includes a single panel and at least one living hinge. The single panel comprises a plurality of panel sections defined in the single panel. The panel sections are adapted to move relative to each other about the living hinge. The tonneau cover is adapted to be placed over a top end of a cargo box of a pickup truck.

The second U-shaped channel is adapted to receive a second enclosure panel. The first U-shaped channel includes a first seal extending between the first upper wall and the first end wall. The first seal is compressed by the first enclosure panel when the first enclosure panel is received in the first U-shaped channel.

Abstract: A frame assembly that includes a first frame member, a seal, a second frame member, and a coupling mechanism. The first frame member includes a first extension and a second extension. The seal extends between a surface of the first extension and a surface of the second extension. The second frame member includes a third extension. The coupling mechanism is adapted to connect together the first frame member and the second frame member. After the first frame member and the second frame member are connected together, the first extension, the second extension, and the third extension cooperate to form a channel. The channel is adapted to receive a tonneau cover enclosure panel.

Abstract: A latch assembly comprising: (I) a head having: (a) two corners; and (b) two fillets that are each connected to the two corners by a sidewall that extends between each of the two fillets and each of the two corners; and (II) an engaging portion coupled to the head, the engaging portion being configured to engage a wall of a cargo box of a pickup truck to compressibly secure a foldable tonneau system to the cargo box, wherein two of the sidewalls extending between the two corners and the two fillets form a locking portion that is configured to lock the latch assembly in a cross bow member of the foldable tonneau system when the latch assembly is in communication with the cross bow member, and the latch assembly is configured to be insertable and removable from the cross bow member of the foldable tonneau system without disassembly of the cross bow member.

Abstract: A foldable tonneau system comprising: (a) a plurality of tonneau sections; (b) one or more hinges connecting two or more of the plurality of tonneau sections together, the one or more hinges each including: (i) a hinge housing connected to each of the two or more of the plurality of tonneau sections with each of the hinge housings being connected a different one of the plurality of tonneau sections, and (ii) a slide box located at least partially within and movably connected to each of the hinge housings; wherein each of the slide boxes are longitudinally movable relative to the hinge housings so that the one or more hinges are longitudinally extendable, and the hinge housings are rotationally movable relative to each other so that one of the plurality of tonneau sections is rotationally movable to a location above a second one of the plurality of tonneau sections.
