  • Patent number: 8337125
Abstract: A system with a container (1) and a tool holder (20) having two ends (21, 22). One of the ends of the tool holder is adapted to be secured to a machine tool and the other end is adapted for attaching a cutting edge or a cutting edge carrying unit. The tool holder includes an internal cavity (23) surrounded by a cavity wall. The cavity accommodates the container. One end of the cavity is adapted for connection to a supply for a cooling medium and the other end is connected to an outlet for cooling medium. The cavity furthermore includes an opening (25) for installation of the container. At least one gap for leading the cooling medium is formed between the container and the cavity wall. The container can be installed in a machine tool, and the container can be used to accommodate one or several sensors for measuring parameters or for receiving a damping system.

  • Patent number: 7908947
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for damping vibrations and/or controlling the flexion of an object in machining, said device comprising at least one force exchange device which could be a force applying device or a damping device. A such force applying device is for applying a force having a force component directed at right angles to the surface of the object and/or for applying a moment to the object. A damping device of this type is for absorbing vibrations from the object and is adapted to absorb a force component directed at right angles to the surface of the object or to absorb a moment from the object.

The cutting head (13) comprises a flange with a first side creating a coupling surface (4) adapted for being secured to the adapter (9). On the opposite of the flange, it is situated an other side creating at least one surface (1A) with an outwards extending protrusion (8), with securing means adapted for securing a cutting insert (5) with at least one cutting edge. The weight of the cutting head (13) is reduced as compared to the strength of the cutting head (13), and the natural frequency of the cutting head (13) is thereby increased when this is secured to the adapter (9).
