  • Patent number: 9932136
Abstract: The present invention relates to a pouch and a method for making the same. In the inventive method, which is adapted to produce pouches having a limited amount of fusible material, a heat-sealable cord is arranged on a web forming confronting side surface of each pouch. Those confronting side surfaces are fused by heating the heat-sealable cord. The present invention furthermore provides a pouch, in particular containing a brewable or extractable commodity such as tea, with a pocket defined between confronting side surfaces of a web. The pouch of the present invention can have a limited amount of fusible material as the confronting side surfaces are joined by solidified melt of a heat-sealable cord arranged in vicinity of at least one edge of the pouch.

  • Patent number: 9902516
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for making pouches providing a continuous web; folding the web to provide confronting side surfaces joined along a bottom edge; forming a vertical seal between the confronting side surfaces, thereby providing a series of adjacent pockets having opposite side walls with each pocket having an unsealed opening along a top edge; filling the pockets through the unsealed opening with material; sealing the unsealed opening. In the inventive method, which facilitates handling of the continuous web forming the pouches, the web is perforated by a perforation between a leading length piece of the web adapted to form a leading pocket and a trailing length piece of the web adapted to form a trailing pocket, and the distance between a trailing edge of the leading length piece and a leading edge of a trailing length piece is increased for tearing the leading and the trailing lengths pieces apart at the perforation.

  • Patent number: 7401450
Abstract: This invention concerns an infusion bag, especially for tea, which has a top part with folded down corners and a middle part folded over it, to which a string with two free ends is attached that goes from one side of the top part through a hole in the folded down parts forming a loop on the other side of the top part and comes back, whereby the two free ends are drawn up through the loop laid over the top edge of the infusion bag and pulled to form a knot. The solution in the invention is characterized by the fact that two holes are made in the top part at a lateral distance next to one another, on the left and right of the longitudinal axis of the bag; each hole goes through a folded down corner and the middle of the top part; by the fact that the string forms a loop and one end goes through one hole and the other end through the second hole; by the fact that the loop is laid over the top edge of the infusion bag, and both ends of the string go up through the loop to form a double knot.

  • Patent number: 7264282
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for knotting the end of a thread to a flat object containing two spaced holes for the knot. The method provides the thread located in front of the holes is pulled to the other side of the object while forming loops, and in that the loop is rotated by at least 270°. Subsequently the end of the thread is pulled through this loop and the knot that is formed is tightened. The device provides three tools, specifically two bars and a gripper.

  • Patent number: 5797244
Abstract: A method for transferring filled tea bags from a single track tea packaging machine to a two-track processing machine includes the steps of feeding tea bags in single file to a transfer station and positioning each tea bag individually therein. The tea bags are deposited alternatingly to the left and to the right onto a left and a right track of the two-track transporting table by pivoting the tea bags in sequential movements about a first axis and about a second axis, wherein the first and second axes extend transverse to one another. The tea bags are then transported on the left and right tracks in double file to the processing machine.

  • Patent number: 5548945
Abstract: A device for packing packs of filled tea bags has a channel for collecting filled tea bags to form a stack. The channel has a first stack holder for securing the leading tea bag and a first stack pusher for advancing the completed stack. A rotary device has two cassettes for receiving the completed stack. A transporting device has a second stack holder and a second stack pusher for transporting the completed stack from the rotary device after rotation into a position above the box for packing. A pushing device for pushing the completed stack into the box is provided. A tea bag feeding device feeds individual tea bags to the channel for forming the stack. Two oppositely arranged retaining fingers are positioned at an upstream end of the channel. A tea bag holder is positioned in an initial position at the beginning of forming a new stack at the upstream end of the channel and is displaceable in the longitudinal direction of the channel.
