Abstract: A polycarbonate resin which is excellent in heat resistance, boiling water resistance and surface hardness and has a low water absorption coefficient. The polycarbonate resin comprises a unit (A) represented by the following formula and a unit (B) represented by the following formula as main recurring units, wherein the molar ratio (A/B) of the unit (A) to the unit (B) is 30/70 to 99/1. In the above formula, X is an alkylene group having 3 to 20 carbon atoms or cycloalkylene group having 3 to 20 carbon atoms, R is an alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms or cycloalkyl group having 3 to 20 carbon atoms, and “m” is an integer of 1 to 10.
