  • Patent number: 8281910
Abstract: A brake operating device for bicycles includes a hydraulic fluid cylinder secured to a housing, a parallel cylindrical member on the cylinder and comprising a hollow threaded fastener at one end, a rod in a right portion of the cylinder and having one end connected to a brake lever; a spring biased magnet in the right portion of the cylinder; a plunger interconnecting the magnet and the rod; a spring biased conductor in the cylindrical member and urged by the fastener; and an electric wire interconnecting the conductor and a connector which is connected to a brake lamp. For decreasing a turn-on time of the brake lamp a loosening of the fastener will push the conductor away from the brake lever to decrease a current generated on the conductor due to a movement of the conductor relative to the magnet. Tightening of the fastener can increase the turn-on time.

  • Publication number: 20120240713
Abstract: A braking handlebar for a bicycle includes a combining device, one end thereof being axially mounted to a handle; a braking handlebar, having a pressing section, a pivoting section and an accommodating section, wherein the pivoting section is pivotally connected to one end of the combining device opposite to the handle, and the accommodating section is in parallel to an axial direction of the handle; and a screw adjusting element, movable mounted to the accommodating section of the braking handlebar and connected to one end of a braking cable; wherein the braking cable is loosened or tightened by using the screw adjusting element. Since the screw adjusting element offers the function of being able to rotate, the braking cable can be prevented from being bent excessively, further from generating friction which may results in brake failure.

  • Publication number: 20120241261
Abstract: A semi-hydraulic brake has at least one braking cable and one connection rod; at least one pushing rod, at least one piston, at least one elastic element and at least one tube; and a set of main pistons, a set of brake pads and a disc. When the braking handlebar pulls the braking cable, the connection rod is driven to move toward the braking cable; the pushing rod is driven by the connection rod and meanwhile to push the piston and come to compress the elastic element. The braking liquid inside the hydraulic cylinder is pushed toward respective main pistons of the braking unit through the tube so that the respective main pistons move toward the disc. The respective brake pads simultaneously move toward the disc. Thereby, the braking effect over a front wheel and a rear wheel can be achieved by using a single hydraulic cylinder.

  • Patent number: 7243762
Abstract: A bicycle handbrake operating device is provided. The present invention utilizes a roller wheel to pull the brake wire so as to generate a longer pulling distance and to reduce the exerted force as well. The roller wheel is installed inside the handbrake operating device, and the brake wire goes around the roller wheel. When the operating lever is gripped, the brake wire slides along the roller wheel to achieve a longer pulling distance; the roller wheel's self rotation also reduces the exerted force. Additionally, the brake wire almost always remains a straight line during the pull, which makes the operation of the handbrake operating device smooth and the brake wire would undergo minimum wearing.
