Abstract: A receiver (1) is configured to receive an optical transmission, wherein the receiver is configured to determine a plurality of values over time of the quality of the optical transmission. The receiver comprises one or more low pass filter (26) configured to low pass filter the values of quality of the transmission. Based on the low pass filtered values, the receiver (1) is configured to determine a FEC code and/or modulation type for a further optical transmission.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for receiving a communication signal r(t) subject to noise n(t) over a communication channel (10) is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: receiving (100) the communication signal r(t) comprising the noise n(t), estimating (103) the amount of noise n(t) in the communication signal r(t), and determining (105) the hue of the estimated amount noise n(t), wherein the received communication signal r(t) is passed through a whitening filter if the hue of the noise n(t) is greater than a predetermined threshold level.
Abstract: To achieve a transparent service parameter exchange between networks using a circuit-oriented protocol and networks using a packet-oriented protocol, there is provided a service parameter interworking method adapted to achieve a service parameter exchange between the networks by mapping circuit-switched service parameters into related packet-switched parameters or vice versa and then forwarding payload data between the different networks using the mapping result.
Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement for making a mechanical and electrical contact between contact surfaces disposed in a row along one edge-part of a printed circuit board and a respective contact finger disposed in a row in a plane of a magazine intended for several circuit boards. The row of contact surfaces is located immediately adjacent the contact fingers, and the contact fingers are moved into electrical and mechanical contact with respective contact surfaces by means of an elongated device which is moved in a direction so as to move the contact fingers into a position in which they coact with the contact surfaces. The elongated device is intended to be inserted into the magazine in a direction which lies parallel with the row of contact surfaces.
