Publication number: 20100192013Abstract: A method for distributed computations for fault-diagnosis in a system whose fault propagation model has deterministic couplings between faults and symptoms includes creating a ‘relation graph’ in which the nodes correspond to the potential faults, with two nodes connected by a ‘relational link’ if their corresponding faults have an observed symptom in common. The relation graph is then partitioned into several domains, while minimizing the number of cross-domain relational links, which correspond to cross-domain symptoms. In each domain, all the optimal local solutions to the domain's sub-problem are first determined, and then a combination is selected of the local solutions, one from each domain, that explains the maximum number of cross-domain symptoms, where the optimal solution is supplemented, if necessary, with additional faults to explain any remaining unexplained cross-domain symptoms, determining also a bound on the deviation from optimality of the global solution.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 29, 2009Publication date: July 29, 2010Applicant: TELCORDIA TECHNOLOGIESInventors: Komandur R. Patent number: 7349378Abstract: Aspects of the invention provide a method and system for managing or coordinating data transmission in a Local Area Network (LAN) such that Quality of Service (QoS) concerns are met. A LAN resource manager (LRM) is provided for managing the LAN resources by providing solutions for providing users with several levels of QoS. Once the LRM admits a user at a certain QoS level, the level is assured within the LAN for as long as the user is in the LAN. A user may submit a request to transmit data to the LRM. The LRM may determine if time allocation is possible and allocate the time slots for data transmission. The LRM may send time slot allocation information to an Access Server in a LAN, which may inform the user of the time slot allocation and prepare a queue according to the slot allocation information.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2003Date of Patent: March 25, 2008Assignees: Toshiba America Research, Inc., Telcordia TechnologiesInventors: Moncef Elaoud, Abhrajit Ghosh, Ravichander Vaidyanathan, Prathima Agrawal, Toshikazu Kodama, Yasuhiro Katsube

Patent number: 7203172Abstract: In a next generation packet based network a routing engine is used to determine the most cost effective route for a call from a caller/client subscriber to a call destination. The service manager or call agent softswitch, a call processor that controls the processing of calls, uses a table of softswitch node location information to determine the softswitch node in the service provider's network that is closest to the call destination. The location information related to the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) is also used to make this determination by providing the necessary location information on the call destination. The service manager the first receives the call then forwards the call through the packet backbone network of the service provider to the identified closest softswitch thereby reducing the need for use of the PSTN or another service provider's network.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2002Date of Patent: April 10, 2007Assignee: Telcordia TechnologiesInventors: Glen MacArthur, Michael MacArthur, Randolph Mangoba, Somit Ghosh

Publication number: 20060223541Abstract: A system and method for transmitting data over a plurality of channels is described. The system determines a clear channel and transmits data over that channel. In some examples, the data is formatted prior to identification of the clear channel. In other examples, the data is formatted after identification of the clear channel.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 5, 2005Publication date: October 5, 2006Applicants: Toshiba America Research Inc., Telcordia TechnologiesInventor: David Famolari

Patent number: 6654607Abstract: A system and method for communicating across various communication platforms is disclosed. The system includes a mobility manager that includes a database that stores the alias of terminals on other platforms for addressing from a first platform. Through use of the disclosed system and method, communication across platforms is enabled while minimizing modifications needed to further the communication pathways.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2000Date of Patent: November 25, 2003Assignees: Toshiba America Research, Inc., Telcordia TechnologiesInventors: Yasuro Shobatake, Faramak Vakil
