  • Patent number: 8306545
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and system for reassigning traffic channel configuration, which is applicable to reassigning traffic channel configuration between a site A and a site B with the reassignment being initiated by the site A. The site A transmits a reassignment message to the site B, where the reassignment message carries reassigned traffic channel configuration. The site B determines whether the reassignment message is received correctly, and processes traffic data and transmits the traffic data to the site A according to a determining result. The site A processes the traffic data, and determines whether the reassignment message is correctly received by the site B through determining whether the traffic data are correct. The method and the system enable a base station to determine whether a terminal correctly receives a reassignment message without the terminal transmitting an acknowledgement message, which guarantees fluent communications between the two parties.

  • Patent number: 5812184
Abstract: A bidirectional cable television system provides for transmission of signals from cable subscribers downlink in the same direction as the ensemble of television channels which the cable television system is already constructed to deliver. The subscriber signals may be transmitted over the cable in the blanking intervals of a cable television channel, using the T-NET technique described in U.S. Pat. No. 4,750,036. Alternatively, the signals may be carried over a dedicated channel, or transmitted cochannel along a cable television channel carrying ordinary programming by adding the subscriber information to alternating video frames in alternating polarity to achieve visual cancellation. The subscriber signals are collected after the last distribution line amplifier in the cable downlink. The collected signals are transmitted to a central receiver via wireless or other customary means such as a modem.

  • Patent number: 5771228
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for transmitting data cells in an ATM network having a plurality of connections. A first number of tokens are allocated to a selected one of the plurality of connections. Data cells are transmitted from the selected connection at a peak cell rate while the first number is greater than zero. The first number is decremented by one for each data cell transmitted by the selected connection at the peak cell rate. Data cells are then transmitted from the selected connection at a sustainable cell rate which is less than the peak cell rate while the first number is zero. The first number is incremented by a variable increment during an idle period in which the selected connection does not transmit data cells. The variable increment increases in value as the idle period increases in duration.
