Patent number: 4836779Abstract: A dental face bow comprising a U-shaped spring member including two opposing uniformly acting spring biased legs and a central portion. The U-shaped spring member has a cross section with vertical and horizontal cross sectional axes. The vertical axis is at least twice the length of the horizontal axis. The bow includes two inwardly extending earpieces, proximate the ends of the legs, adapted to fit the external acoustic meatuses of a dental patient. A bite plate for holding a material in contact with oral structures of a dental patient and adjusting means for rigidly securing said bite plate in a fixed relationship with said earpieces are provided.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 1988Date of Patent: June 6, 1989Assignee: Teledyne HanauInventor: Richard A. Patent number: 4330277Abstract: A dental face bow which is readily fittable to a patient's head includes a pair of contact members, such as ear pieces, to be positioned against aural-temporal areas, such as external auditory meatuses, on opposite sides of the patient's head, members to support the contact members, a threaded moving device, which is a thumb wheel operated telescoping unit, for simultaneously moving the supporting members and the contact members nearer together or farther apart, as desired, in a straight line path, in response to rotation of a part of the moving device, e.g., the thumb wheel and auxiliary telescoping means joined to the supporting members for the ear pieces and parallel to the threaded telescoping means, to prevent relative movement of the supporting members.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 1980Date of Patent: May 18, 1982Assignee: Teledyne HanauInventor: Richard A. Patent number: 4323346Abstract: A dental articulator of simplified structure, capable of relatively forward and sideward movements to simulate human jaw movements, includes component parts representing lower jaw and maxillary structures held together at simulated condylar joints, wherein spring means press simulated condyles against matching condylar joint walls to hold them in such position when desired and disengaging means are provided which, when actuated, move the spring means away from the associated condyle part, facilitating relative movement of the simulated jaw parts at such joint. When both ends of the spring are moved away from the condyles the jaw portions of the articulator may be separated so that examination of the wear surfaces of dentures held therein may be effected easily.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 1980Date of Patent: April 6, 1982Assignee: Teledyne Hanau, a division of Teledyne, Inc.Inventor: Richard A. Patent number: 4305708Abstract: A dental articulator for simulating relative jaw and tooth movements, especially useful for producing centric, lateral and forward relative jaw movements of simulated jaws containing a patient's simulated tooth structure, includes a plurality of selectable, pre-set, positive positions for locating simulated condyles and condylar joints to match those of a patient, shaft means mounted on the condyles, adjustable means for simulating superior, posterior and medial walls of condylar joints and override means to maintain the simulated jaws and teeth in relatively movable centric position when engaging the shaft and allowing accurate simulated forward and sideward relative jaw movements when disengaged therefrom. Also disclosed are preferred means for mounting the condyles and condylar joint wall parts and wall parts of improved structure to promote accurate simulation of actual condylar movements.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 1979Date of Patent: December 15, 1981Assignee: Teledyne Hanau, a division of Teledyne, Inc.Inventor: Richard A. Patent number: 4218205Abstract: A dental flask for use in molding full dentures includes bottom, middle and cover sections capable of being sealed together, either by screws for holding the bottom and cover sections to the middle section by screwing into threaded means in the middle section, or by external compressing means. The flask is of such a structure as to promote even transfer of heat to a synthetic organic polymeric plastic material for gum and palate portions of the denture and to teeth to be held thereby, and internally threaded sealing means are so located at sides of the flask as to apply sealing forces effectively and evenly when cover and bottom screws are tightened and are so located as not to interfere with molding of the denture or heat transfer to the plastic portion thereof during molding.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 1978Date of Patent: August 19, 1980Assignee: Teledyne Hanau Division of Teledyne, Inc.Inventor: Richard A.
