Abstract: A motion transmitting remote control assembly (10) of the type for transmitting motion in a curved path includes a terminal member (36) for interconnecting an extending length of a core element and a control member (24). The terminal member (36) has a hole (38) passing therethrough in which a bushing (44) is disposed. The bushing (44) includes a passageway (48) extending completely through the bushing (44) between an insertion end (50) and a distal end (46) for connecting the terminal member (36) with a control pin (28) of the control member (24). The bushing (44) includes at least one slot (56a) oriented along the core element which enables the bushing (44) to flex transversely to the direction of the core element to release the control pin (28) from the bushing (44) in response to a force (F) applied therebetween when the control pin (28) is inserted into the passageway (48) from the distal end (46 ) of the bushing (44) instead of through the insertion end (50).

  • Patent number: 5230257
Abstract: A motion transmitting remote control assembly (10) of the type for transmitting motion along a curved path by a flexible core element (12) to a control member (26). A terminal (22) is attachment to an end (16) of the core element (12) and includes a base (32) extending therefrom for closely fitting within an attachment opening (28) of the control member (26) in order to position the terminal (22) at a final axial position. A retaining member (40) extends from the base (32) for retaining the base (32) closely fit within the attachment opening (28). A locator member (54), disposed at the end (44) of the retaining member (40), locates the terminal (22) at the final axial position prior to retaining the base (32) within the attachment opening (28); thus, the terminal (22) is maintained in the final axial position while both initially locating and finally retaining the terminal (22) in close fit with the control member (26).

  • Patent number: 5220832
Abstract: A motion transmitting remote control assembly (10) which includes a conduit (12) and a motion transmitting core element (14) moveable longitudinally within the conduit (12) to transmit motion. A slider member is slidably disposed in an adjustment body (26). The slider member (70) moves inward into the adjustment body (26) transversely to a central axis (16) of the core element (14) to a locked position and moves outward transversely to the central axis (16) to an unlocked position to permit relative axial movement between the adjustment body (26) and slider member (70). A terminal receptacle (98) is disposed on the slider member (70) which accepts a control member into coupling attachment transverse to the central axis (16). The control member remains attached to the slider member (70) while the slider member (70) moves to the unlocked position to permit relative movement between the control member and the adjustment body (26).

  • Patent number: 5218881
Abstract: A motion transmitting remote control assembly of the type for transmitting motion along a curved path by a flexible core element to a control member. The assembly (10) includes a motion transmitting core element (12) having a slug (20) secured to an end (16) thereof. A terminal (22) is provided for receiving the slug (20) to connect the core element (12) to a control member (26). • Patent number: 5192476
Abstract: A method of forming a hose assembly (10) of the type adapted for carrying fuels and other corrosive fluids. An inner liner (16) of a fluorocarbon material is extruded. The inner liner (16) is then passed through a reservoir containing a dispersion including a fluorocarbon polymer material and a fluid. Glass fibers are then braided about the exterior of the inner liner (16) to form a braided layer (18) having the dispersion thereabout such that the dispersion penetrates the interstitial spaces of the braided layer (18). Subsequently, the assembly (10) is heated to remove the fluid. The assembly is then sintered to cure the fluorocarbon polymer material into a coating dispersed throughout the braided layer (18) and about the inner liner (16).

  • Patent number: 5171172
Abstract: An automatic trim assembly (10) adjusts the trim of an engine (14) in a boat (12) based upon the speed of the boat (12). A pressure switch (18) senses the speed of the boat from a pitot tube and switches to a first condition when the speed is below a predetermined speed and to a second condition when the speed is above the predetermined speed. A control circuit (16) trims the engine (14) to a first or low position in response to the switch (18) being in the first condition, and trims the engine (14) to a second or high position in response to the switch (18) being in the second condition. An initiation circuit (62) is provided to automatically trim the engine (14) to the first position upon start-up of the assembly (10). An inhibit circuit (64) prevents trimming of the engine (14) to the first position when the speed of the boat exceeds the predetermined speed upon start-up of the assembly (10).

  • Patent number: 5161428
Abstract: A motion transmitting remote control assembly (10) for transmitting forces along a curved path by a flexible core element (26) slidably disposed witin a flexible conduit (12). The assembly (10) includes an elongated member (62) for adjusting the longitudinal position of the conduit (12) by being slidably disposed within a passageway (68) of a support member (32).
