    Abstract: A method for decoding a picture from a bitstream. In one embodiment, The method includes: receiving a slice header for a slice of the picture, wherein the slice header comprises a state syntax element; decoding a state value from the state syntax element in the slice header, wherein a) if the state value is not equal to a first value, then the state value indicates that i) the bitstream includes for the picture a picture header comprising a set of picture syntax elements and ii) the slice header does not comprise the set of picture syntax elements and b) if the state value is equal to the first value, then the state value indicates that i) the slice header contains said set of picture syntax elements and ii) the bitstream does not include a picture header for the picture; and using the set of picture syntax elements to decode the slice of the picture.

    Abstract: According to some embodiments, a method for use in a network node of transmitting reference signals in a wireless network using a plurality of beams comprises obtaining a node identifier for the network node. The group comprises a subset of a pool of possible reference signal sequences for use in the wireless network. Each reference signal sequence is associated with a beam reference identifier. The method further comprises selecting a reference signal sequence from the obtained group: scrambling a reference signal transmission pattern using the obtained node identifier and the selected reference signal sequence with associated beam reference identifier; and transmitting the scrambled reference signal transmission pattern to a user equipment on one of the beams among the plurality of beams.

    Abstract: The invention relates to incremental redundancy operation, and a basic idea of the invention is to provide an extended acknowledgment feedback, for each of a number of data blocks, from the receiving side to the transmitting side to enable indication whether any soft information associated with at least one sub-block of the data block has been stored in memory at the receiving side. This information helps the transmitter to select which of the data blocks that may be suitable to retransmit next. For example, by first retransmitting data blocks for which one or more sub-blocks are already stored in the receiver memory, the probability of successful decoding of these data blocks increases, and thus the corresponding sub-blocks can be removed from memory, allowing room for sub-blocks of new data blocks. This significantly improves the utilization of the memory on the receiving side, increases throughput and reduces delay.

    Abstract: Cache data replacement techniques enable improved performance in a computer system having a central processing unit (CPU), a cache memory and a main memory, wherein the cache memory has a plurality of data items stored therein. The cache data replacement techniques include associating a priority value with each of the stored data items, wherein for each data item, the priority value is an estimate of how much CPU stall time will occur if an attempt is made to retrieve the data item from the cache memory when the data item is not stored in the cache memory. When a cache entry must be replaced, the priority values are analyzed to determine a lowest priority value. One of the data items that has the lowest priority value is selected and replaced by a replacement data item.
