    Abstract: A method for sharing user equipment state estimates between nodes within a wireless communication network comprises initiating of transmission of at least one of obtained user equipment kinematic state estimate information and obtained user equipment type state estimate information to a receiving network node as a response to an obtained indication of a need for sharing user equipment state estimates. The obtained user equipment kinematic state estimate information comprising a latest kinematic state update time, as well as mode state vector estimates, mode covariance matrices and mode probabilities for at least one user equipment kinematic mode. The obtained user equipment type state estimate information comprising a latest type state update time and a type state probability estimate. A method for receiving and propagating the user equipment state estimates, and devices for both methods are also disclosed.

    Abstract: A power control method in accordance with the present invention synchronizes the transmit power levels at the base stations currently serving a mobile station and an initial transmit power level of a new target base station being added in a diversity handover situation. At the beginning of the handover, a radio network controller orders the serving base stations to measure their respective transmit powers to the mobile station. Each serving base station then measures its transmit power to the mobile station and reports the power level measurements to the radio network controller. An initial transmit power setting is determined for the target base station, and new transmit power settings are determined for the serving base stations synchronized for example to a particular time (t0).

    Abstract: A cellular communications network includes a plurality of cells whose base stations have both sector and smart antenna capabilities. While engaged in a call, mobile station downlink signal strength measurements are made on its own serving traffic channel and the control channels of neighboring cells. These measurements are then adjusted by one or more factors which take into account the operational and physical differences between sector antenna and smart antenna. For example, the signal strength measurements may be appropriately adjusted by measured differences in gain between the smart antenna and sector antenna, output power backoff values associated with smart antenna and sector antenna support of the traffic channels in comparison to the control channels, and power control attenuation applied to the traffic channels.

    Abstract: An operation and maintenance communications link is established between an antenna near parts component and transmitter and receiver of a transceiver site assembly. The transmitter and receiver are connected to a remote antenna by means of a radio frequency feeder supporting a plurality of communications channels. A radio transceiver is connected to the antenna near parts component. A communications connection comprising the operation and maintenance communications link is established between the radio frequency transceiver and the transmitter and receiver over the radio frequency feeder connected to the antenna using a selected one of the supported communications channels. Another implementation further utilizes an air interface connection supporting the selected communications channel to provide the operation and maintenance communications link.
