  • Publication number: 20230291619
Abstract: A radio transmitter and a method therefor are disclosed. According to an embodiment, the radio transmitter comprises a first power amplifier (PA) corresponding to a first antenna port, an observation receiver, a first determination module, a first pre-distortion module, one or more second PA each corresponding to a second antenna port, one or more second determination module and one or more second pre-distortion module. The first determination module is configured to determine a first function reflecting a nonlinearity of the first PA, based on a first input signal to the first PA, an observation signal from the observation receiver and a first set of parameters characterizing the first PA. The first pre-distortion module is configured to determine and apply a first pre-distortion to a first baseband signal for the first antenna port.

  • Patent number: 7164890
Abstract: A network node (28) of a wireless telecommunication network (20) uses a first coding scheme (selected from plural possible coding schemes) for encoding of a point-to-multipoint (PTM) transmission carried to plural mobile stations (30) on a common downlink channel (32). The mobile stations (30) receiving the point-to-multipoint transmission on the common downlink channel (32) evaluate the link quality of the point-to-multipoint transmission. Feedback from the plural mobile stations (30) regarding the link quality of the point-to-multipoint transmission is provided to the network node (28) on a common uplink channel (36). A controller (48) at the network node (28) monitors information received on the common uplink channel for feedback regarding the link quality of the point-to-multipoint transmission.

  • Patent number: 7106709
Abstract: A radio receiver system (30) comprises a radio receiver (41), a receiver sample clock (60), which is used for sampling a modulated base-band signal; and a timing correction unit (100). The timing correction unit (100) performs, in the frequency domain, a timing drift compensation between a transmitter sample clock (66) and the receiver sample clock (60). In one example context of implementation, the plural modulated radio frequency carriers have been modulated using Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM).

  • Patent number: 6498934
Abstract: A method and apparatus for channel allocation using pathloss estimates. Pathloss values between mobile stations located in one cell and base stations located in surrounding cells are calculated. Using the calculated pathloss values the system can determine the amount of interference which will be caused to transmissions in the surrounding base stations by allocating a certain channel to a base station located in the one cell. The system also can determine the source of the interference and use such a determination in the allocation of channels.

  • Patent number: 5850604
Abstract: There is disclosed a system and method for accessing a cellular telecommunications network serving a plurality of normal subscribers and a plurality of fixed subscribers. The normal and fixed subscribers access the system through a plurality of cells and a plurality of base stations electronically connected to a mobile switching center (MSC). Each of the base stations transmits radio frequency signals over a coverage area defining one of the cells. The system differentiates during system access the normal subscriber from the fixed subscriber. The system permits the normal subscriber access to the system through any one of the plurality of cells. The system permits the fixed subscriber restricted call setup to the system through a fixed subscription area (FSA) defined for the fixed subscriber to include at least one of the cells.

  • Patent number: 5828949
Abstract: The present invention is a method within a radio telecommunications network for delivering a telephone call to a mobile station having a telephone portion, a pager portion, and a relay switch between the telephone portion and the pager portion. Data indicating that the mobile station is capable of receiving standard paging messages from a paging network is recorded in a home location register (HLR) associated with the mobile station. The method enables a subscriber to turn off the telephone portion to conserve battery power. When a call is received in a cellular network for the mobile station, and the mobile station cannot be contacted, the cellular network requests an associated paging network to send a page to the pager portion. The paging network is requested to page the pager portion of the mobile station via a datalink from the cellular network. The pager portion then activates the telephone portion through the relay switch, and the cellular network completes the call.

  • Patent number: 5784442
Abstract: A system and method for providing real-time billing (RTB) information to mobile subscribers operating mobile stations in a radio telecommunications network and involved in a call in which at least one of the mobile subscribers is a RTB subscriber. The system is implemented entirely within the network and without modifying the mobile stations. The system comprises a plurality of mobile switching centers (MSCs), which collect toll ticketing (TT) records associated with calls processed by each MSC and associate the collected TT records with individual calls by the use of billing identification numbers. Each MSC tags TT records that are associated with real-time billing calls, and sends the tagged records to a local post processing unit for immediate processing. Real-time billing information is computed and electronically transmitted to RTB subscribers immediately after the completion of the call.

  • Patent number: 5761623
Abstract: A system and method of providing seamless interoperability for a mobile station roaming between cellular telecommunication systems operating in multiple hyperbands such as the 1900-MHz PCS hyperband and the 800-MHz cellular telephone hyperband, utilizing United States cellular standards. An enhanced inter-exchange communications protocol based on IS-41 is utilized to communicate information required for seamless interoperability between mobile switching centers (MSCs). The enhanced inter-exchange communications protocol comprises a plurality of signaling messages and a plurality of modified message parameters within the signaling messages. The modified message parameters are modified to include information elements required for seamless interoperability between the multi-hyperband capable exchanges and are added as optional (overriding) parameters to the signaling messages.
