  • Patent number: 10172158
Abstract: According to certain embodiments, a method for self-deferring transmissions in a multi-carrier network includes determining, by a first controller seeking to initiate a carrier sensing procedure in a first cell operating on a first carrier, that a second cell associated with a second controller has initiated a first transmission opportunity on a second carrier that is adjacent to the first carrier. The first controller determines a first transmission opportunity duration associated with the first transmission opportunity initiated in the second cell. The first controller defers the carrier sensing procedure to be performed in the first cell by the first transmission opportunity duration. The carrier sensing procedure in the first cell is initiated after the first transmission opportunity duration unless instructed by the second controller.

  • Patent number: 9813195
Abstract: A wireless receiving device and a method for receiving a transmission from a transmitting device following a broadcast transmission of a plurality of packets are provided. During the broadcast transmission, packets successfully received have been acknowledged and stored in a memory associated with the receiving device and unsuccessfully received packets have been negatively acknowledged. The method comprises receiving a retransmission of a packet from the transmitting device and sending, to the transmitting device, an acknowledge, ACK, message with respect to the received retransmitted packet. The method further comprises decoding the received retransmitted packet using stored previously successfully decoded packets, wherein if the received retransmitted packet is successfully decoded then the method comprises decoding stored previously partially decoded packets using the successfully decoded packet. The method also comprises storing the successfully decoded packet and/or the partially decoded packet.

Abstract: A symbol detector converts initial symbol estimates of received symbols to soft estimates for decoding. The symbol detector computes spreading waveform correlations between a spreading waveform for a symbol of interest and spreading waveforms for one or more interfering symbols. Interference rejection terms are computed by scaling the spreading waveform correlations by corresponding signal powers and compensating for noise. A soft scaling factor for the symbol of interest is computed from the interference rejection terms. The soft scaling factors are then applied to the initial symbol estimates to generate the soft estimates.

  • Patent number: 7280580
Abstract: A hop channel is selected for use in a channel hopping communication system that includes a sequence of hop channels, wherein the sequence comprises a set of forbidden hop channels and a remaining set of allowable hop channels. Selection involves selecting a hop channel from the sequence as a function of a present phase. If the selected hop channel is an allowable hop channel, then the selected hop channel is used for communication during the present phase. If the selected hop channel is a forbidden hop channel, then a time-varying parameter is used to select a substitute hop channel from the set of allowable hop channels. The substitute hop channel is then used for communication during the present phase. The time-varying parameter may, for example, be a clock value. With this strategy, the resultant hopping sequence is identical to the original hopping sequence whenever the original sequence calls for an allowable hop channel.

  • Patent number: 6879599
Abstract: A telecommunications system and method are disclosed for mapping a Transcoder/Rate Adaptor (TRAU) protocol onto a User Datagram Protocol (UDP) for use in an Internet Protocol (IP) based Base Station System (BSS) architecture. All in-band control bits in the TRAU protocol are not relevant when using the UDP protocol. Therefore, when speech information is mapped onto a UDP datagram for transfer to a Channel Codec Unit(CCU) in a Base Transceiver Station (BTS), some of the information normally transferred between a CCU and the TRAU can be removed. For example, a Time Alignment command included in some of frame types is not needed, and should be removed. In addition, bits relating to a frame structure, such as TRAU synchronization bits, tail bits and spare control bits, should be removed from all frame types. Furthermore, a new control bit that contains a sequence number must be added to handle reordering of a packet data stream.

  • Patent number: 6738981
Abstract: The present invention discloses a general access system for access to communication services, such as telecommunication, data communication and distribution of TV and radio. The access system comprises a connectivity network, a number of access adapters connected to the communication network, a number of service providing networks, each connected to access adapters, a number of network terminals connected to the connectivity network and to a number of terminals. Service access points of the service providing networks are distributed to all the network terminals which belongs to subscribers of that particular service. Applications in the network terminals enhance and/or combines the services from different service providing networks and offers them to users via the terminals.

  • Patent number: 6735451
Abstract: Methods and base stations for controlling downlink power, especially in systems employing virtual cells, are described. By providing attenuators in each transmit signal processing chain, e.g., after upconverting to intermediate frequencies, downlink power control can be more finely tuned to different antenna elements.
