Abstract: A method for collecting data to measure market-share for a defined telecommunication market. A market of interest is defined and a random panel of numbers is created. A call set-up is initiated to the created random panels by generating signaling messages wherein the signaling messages access a Calling Name Services (CNAM) database, a Local Number Portability (LNP) database, an E-911 Automated Location Information (ALI) database and a Line Information Database (LIDB) using signaling system 7 (SS7) protocol. Generated signaling messages access ENUM (Telephone Number Mapping) database and Internet Protocol (IP) Peering database using IP. The response to the generated signaling messages are used to determine assignment status, business ownership, businesses versus residential status and the technology employed for a given number in the created panel. In one embodiment, the process is repeated over a period in order to determine changes to the market-share and derivative metrics for the telecommunication market.

Abstract: A method of measuring wireless cross technology wireless coverage. The method includes initiating a call from a wireless device using a given wireless technology; in response to the initiating, receiving a plurality of data for the given wireless technology; in response to the receiving, analyzing the plurality of data; repeating the above steps for various wireless technologies; and generating a calibration for the analysis of the plurality of data for various wireless technologies. The adjusted data in response to the generated calibration is constructed and outputted. In one embodiment, the analysis includes determining the signal strength for the wireless device of the given wireless technology and determining the probability of call failure for the wireless device of the given wireless technology. Accordingly, at a given probability of call failure, signal strengths of the wireless device for various wireless technologies are corresponded and are equivalent to one another.
Abstract: A method of classifying a call failure. In one embodiment, an indication of a call failure is received and the cause of the failed call is automatically identified and classified. In one embodiment, identifying the cause of a call failure comprises determining signal characteristics, determining network resource availability, and determining cellular structure characteristics. In one embodiment, a call failure is classified as coverage failure if the signal strength is below an acceptable threshold or if a wireless device initiates a call and receives no response from the network or when the signal interference is above an acceptable threshold. In one embodiment, a call failure is classified as capacity failure if a network is unable to accommodate a wireless device with a communication channel or resources. A call failure is classified as operational failure if the call failure is related to mistakes in a configuration file defining and identifying cellular structures.
