  • Patent number: 8331866
Abstract: The present invention relates to evaluating a real-time service performance in a wireless telecommunications system. According to the invention real-time transmission packet arrival times and number of lost real-time transmission packets of the received data in a terminal equipment are measured. The charging information is modified in the billing system in response to the assessed quality of the real time service.

  • Patent number: 7711378
Abstract: A method for transmitting a short message between two terminals includes determining the receiver of the short message based on a so-called short number, which short number is common to a plurality of A-subscribers, wherein the B-subscriber indicated by the short number is different for each of the plural A-subscribers. The short message is transmitted via a short message service center to a virtual home location register, which gives the short number routing information for a virtual mobile switching center. The short number is converted into a connection number corresponding to the short number and associated with the A-subscriber, the connection number being suitable for the communication network of the B-subscriber. The message is then routed to the B-subscriber based on the connection number.

  • Patent number: 7450957
Abstract: A method and system for controlling the use of a short message service in a telecommunication system that includes a telecommunication network, a terminal device by which a subscriber is connected to the network, a mobile services switching center connected to the network, a gateway connected to the network, a short message service center connected to the gateway, and a database (DB) connected to or associated with the gateway. A short message sent by an originating subscriber is checked as to whether the short message is among those deemed non-allowed. Forwardable short messages are directed to the gateway, from which the database is queried to determine whether the originating subscriber is permitted the short message to the intended recipient or, alternatively, whether the message should been blocked based on predetermined criteria.

  • Publication number: 20080021980
Abstract: The invention relates to transmitting a communication from a data transmission network to a receiving data transmission network. The communication is directed to a transmitting network element in the receiving data transmission network on the basis of this network address. The network address of the network element is queried from a private name server of the receiving data transmission network, after which said connection is directed to said network element. In addition, the invention relates to a system and a name server for implementing the method according to the invention.

  • Patent number: 7221959
Abstract: A system and method for determining, storing and utilizing terminal operating mode data in a telecommunication system, in which the user can selectively set his terminal into two or more distinct operating modes. When the operating mode of the user's terminal is changed, information regarding the change of operating mode is sent from the user terminal to a telecommunication server using any available and/or otherwise available technique available in the telecommunication network. The user terminal operating mode change is stored on the telecommunication server for access by parties seeking to contact or communicate with the user's terminal.

  • Patent number: 7113800
Abstract: A method and a system for routing a short message into a data network in a telecommunication system that comprises a subscriber's terminal device, a first short message service center, a second short message service center and a data network connected to the second short message service center. The short message service center defined as active in the terminal device is the first short message service center. A short message sent from the terminal device to a predetermined destination number is routed from the first short message service center via a special converter component to the data network. The short message in Mobile Terminated format is converted in the converted component into a short message of Mobile Originated format and is then sent to the second short message service center.

  • Publication number: 20040266464
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for transmitting a short message between two terminals. In the method, the receiver of the short message is determined on the basis of a so-called short number, which short number is common to each A-subscriber, but to which corresponds the actual connection number of the B-subscriber determined by the A-subscriber. In the method, the short message is transmitted via a short message service center to a virtual home location register, which gives said short number routing information for a virtual mobile switching center, wherein the short number is converted into a connection number corresponding to it and suitable for the communication network of the B-subscriber, on the basis of which number the transmission of the short message is performed. In addition, the invention relates to a system that implements the method, as well as to a mobile switching center.

  • Publication number: 20040103192
Abstract: A method of generating charging data in a data network, and a data network are provided. The method comprises: transmitting data generated by a content provider in a content server to a node of a data transmission connection used by a connection provider; transmitting the data of a service entity generated by the content provider from the node through the data transmission connection used by the connection provider to a subscriber terminal; identifying in the node individual transactions in the data to be transmitted to the subscriber terminal; transmitting the identification information of the identified transactions from the node to the charging information system of the connection provider; identifying in the charging information system the individual transactions in a chargeable service entity; generating in the charging information system one content ticket for each identified service entity, and using the content ticket in billing for the service entity.

  • Patent number: 6708033
Abstract: A system for changing the service profile of a mobile subscriber includes a location part (31), a evaluation part (32) and a subscriber connection exchange part (33). Besides these, the home location register contains such individual subscriber connections for the subscriber, which have a different service profile. The duty of the location part is to find out the location of the mobile station in the network and to give location information to the evaluation part. The information may be e.g. a location area identity, cell identity or switching centre area identity which is used in the public land mobile network. The evaluation part checks to find out whether the location information has changed compared with the location information received earlier. If it has, it searches the memory for the corresponding location information and compares the connection information in the record with the current connection information.
