Publication number: 20060018260Abstract: A protocol for intra-shelf exchange of SONET/SDH line and path alarm, and section and line digital cross-connect information is disclosed. The protocol encompasses a method including continual monitoring each SONET/SDH datapath channel for alarms by one or more line cards (e.g., optical line interface, electrical line interface), processing the results of the channel monitoring to consolidate and encapsulate SONET/SDH alarm data by the line cards, forwarding this data to a switch card, which makes switching decisions based on the data. The SONET/SDH line, path, and equipment fault information may be collected, filtered, and prioritized by the line cards with some knowledge of the protection scheme(s) being implemented by the switch card, and may be formatted into an efficient encoding of the quality of each path.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 21, 2004Publication date: January 26, 2006Applicant: Tellabs Operations, Inc., A DELAWARE CORPORATIONInventors: Mark Richmond, Daniel Conaway

Publication number: 20040258146Abstract: A multiple carrier communication system includes a primary impulse shortening filter that receives an output signal of an analog to digital converter and accepts coefficients. A secondary impulse shortening filter receives the output signal of the analog to digital converter, outputs an output signal, and passes coefficients to the primary impulse shortening filter. A reference signal generator outputs a reference signal. A comparator compares the output signal and the reference signal and outputs a resulting error signal. An adaptive processor computes coefficients for the secondary impulse shortening filter based on the error signal.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 23, 2004Publication date: December 23, 2004Applicant: Tellabs Operations, Inc., a Delaware corporationInventors: Gopal Harikumar, Daniel J. Publication number: 20040091056Abstract: A channel in a multiple carrier communication system is equalized by computing a target spectral response, shortening the impulse response of the channel so that a significant part of an energy of the impulse response is confined to a region that is shorter than a target length and filtering the signal based on the target spectral response.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 27, 2003Publication date: May 13, 2004Applicant: Tellabs Operations, Inc. a Delaware corporationInventors: Gopal Harikumar, Daniel Marchok

Publication number: 20040085967Abstract: A system and method for a cell based wrapped wave front arbiter (WWFA) with bandwidth reservation are disclosed. The method for reserving bandwidth of a given priority using the WWFA for arbitrating bandwidth among virtual links between input and output ports, each virtual link supporting one or more priorities and corresponding to an arbitration unit (AU) of the WWFA generally comprises performing at least one arbitration pass of a wave front of the WWFA where AUs having a reserved bandwidth request of a given priority and reserved bandwidth credit of the given priority compete for the bandwidth associated with the wave front, and where AUs not having a reserved bandwidth request of the given priority and reserved bandwidth credit of the given priority do not compete for the bandwidth, and performing at least one subsequent arbitration pass where AUs having a reserved bandwidth request of the given priority compete for the bandwidth.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 4, 2002Publication date: May 6, 2004Applicant: Tellabs Operations, Inc., A DELAWARE CORPORATIONInventors: Mark E. Publication number: 20040042498Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for detecting framing data in a telecommunications signal. In one embodiment, a frame synchronizer circuit is provided that includes an interface for receiving bits of a telecommunications signal and storage for storing a framing state for the bit positions in the frame, the framing state for a given bit position indicating whether that bit position is a potential holder of the frame synchronization pattern. The frame synchronizer circuit also contains a state update function that determines the current-state for each bit position based on the bit position's previous state, and the value of the most recently received bit in that bit position. The encoding scheme makes use of shorter bit length symbols to represent statistically more frequently occurring states. In one embodiment, a single code word is used to record the state of a sequence of consecutively occurring bit positions that share the same state.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 4, 2002Publication date: March 4, 2004Applicant: Tellabs Operations, Inc., A DELAWARE CORPORATIONInventors: Sean M.
