Patents Assigned to Temco Fireplace Products, Inc.
  • Patent number: 6390808
Abstract: A gas burner log set for a fireplace has a pair of spaced apart ceramic fiber logs with a gas burner therebetween. The rear face of the front log has a substantially flat planar surface angled upwardly toward the front surface of the rear log to form therewith an elongated triangular flame channel having an apex at the top. The burner is spaced from the rear surface of the front log by a small selected distance and the burner has ports which emit gas and create a flame in the flame channel. The front surface of the rear log has an upper portion which overlays the ports of the burner. The log set provides a flame which closely simulates visually the burning of logs and provides a clean burning flame with a minimum amount of carbon monoxide.

  • Patent number: 6138667
Abstract: A gas fueled direct vent fireplace has a firebox within an outer casing, the firebox having a mounting plate above the floor of the casing for mounting burner support brackets, a pilot light assembly, a gas valve and control assembly, and other conventional elements for controlling the burner. The mounting plate includes an explosion blow-out valve plate and a vacuum release plate which are spring biased to close respective ports. The valve plate opens when the gas pressure within the firebox is excessive, and the vacuum release plate opens if the release of pressure from the firebox causes the firebox to become subatmospheric. The firebox has a frontal opening which is closed by a glass access door having an extrusion at upper and lower edges and side edge protectors. The extrusions have portions which face the interior of the firebox to be grasped by latches mounted on the firebox to tightly secure the glass access door to the firebox.

  • Patent number: 6116232
Abstract: A gas fireplace insert structure having a firebox formed to direct flue gases reaching the upper section thereof through a folded path to flow forward and upwardly and then return rearwardly to an exhaust opening, and a casing formed to provide a room air circulating path around the firebox, the circulating room air path including a folded path portion disposed within and following the fold of the flue gas path.

  • Patent number: 6029654
Abstract: A vented wood or gas-log fireplace is formed from a sheet metal member bent to form side and rear panels. A pair of spaced apart sheet metal plates are connected between the side panels and have rear edges spaced from the rear panel. The rear edges of the plates are bent to form lips extending in a direction toward the opposite plate. Bracket members are secured to the plates adjacent the side panels. A rear refractory member is positioned between the plates in engagement with the lips, and side refractory panels are positioned in abutment with a respective side sheet metal panel and held in place by the bracket members, the side ceramic panels abutting the rear ceramic panel at the sides thereof. A top panel is fastened to the top edges of the side panels above the top plate and a conduit extends through the top plate with the top panel to communicate the combustion chamber with an exhaust pipe or chimney.

  • Patent number: 5782231
Abstract: A gas burning direct vent fireplace having an outer casing within which a firebox is mounted. The sides of the firebox are secured to the sides of the casing so that the bottom of the firebox is spaced above the floor of the casing without the need for supporting legs for the fireplace. An access door having a glass plate is fastened to the firebox at the front and a front panel is removably carried by the casing in front of and spaced from the glass plate access door, the front panel having an opening permitting viewing of the interior of the firebox through the glass plate. The mounting of the front panel permits a variety of selective front panels having varying aesthetics to be used with a fireplace.

  • Patent number: 5715808
Abstract: A direct vent fireplace has a mounting assembly for aiding in the installation of a vent cap assembly through which fresh air is drawn for combustion and exhaust gas products are expelled from the fireplace. The assembly includes a wall mounting box having a plate which may be secured to a pair of spaced apart framing studs of an interior wall adjacent to which the fireplace is to be installed. The wall box includes two members which are telescopically connected together so that the length from the plate to rear surface of the box may be adjustably selected to be equal to the thickness of an exterior wall through which the air enters and the flue gases exhaust. The vent cap assembly includes a plate which is secured to the rear end of the box after the box has been installed. Adjustable length flue gas and air tubes are received through the box and connect the event cap assembly to the fireplace.

  • Patent number: 5471973
Abstract: A gas fueled direct vent fireplace having a firebox within which flue gases are generated includes a glass face access door for closing the front of the fireplace and facing the interior of a room within which the fireplace is located. Flue gases exit remote from the front. A first seal is positioned about the periphery of the open front of the fireplace at locations accessible to flue gases for abutting the glass. A second seal is positioned about the periphery of the glass outwardly of the first seal so that only flue gases which leak past the first seal may contact the second seal. The first seal is formed from fiberglass which has high temperature characteristics. The second seal is formed from a silicone elastomeric material. With this arrangement leakage of hot gases into the adjoining room is substantially eliminated and the life of the elastomeric seal may be extended indefinitely relative to that of the prior art.
