Abstract: A method for reducing the occurrence of voids and areas of porosity in injection molded parts. Vents are placed within the injection mold near areas of the molded part that are prone to the occurrence of voids and areas of porosity. A porous flow regulator is placed adjacent the vents to regulate the flow of the resin near the vent. The flow regulator allows air trapped within the mold to escape through the vents during molding. Allowing air trapped within the mold to escape reduces the occurrence of voids and areas of porosity in the molded part. A porous plug extends through the flow regulator and into the vent. The porous plug prevents excess quantities of resin from flowing out of the vent, thus reducing waste and also helping to maintain the flow regulator in place.
Abstract: Storage bins including slidable trays and unitary sidewalls are described. The trays of the storage bin are designed to be retained in a retracted position when the cover to the storage bin is opened. In addition, the trays can be easily removed from and replaced within the storage bin. The unitary sidewalls of the storage bin are interchangeable and allow for simpler and more efficient assembly and manufacture.
Abstract: A foldable seat that includes a back support hingedly attached to a seat member such that the back support can be folded from an upright, open position to a horizontal, closed position. The seat member includes a shoulder for cooperating with the bottom of the back support to prevent the back support from deflecting or buckling and being displaced beyond the vertical position.
Abstract: A hatch for a boat or other vehicle having a cover (10) that is pivotally connected to a frame (12) by a pair of releasable hing assemblies (32) that allow separation of the cover from the frame when the cover is forcibly opened against an object on an adjacent surface (14). A pair of pivotal handles (60) are restrained against movement into a downward angular position that would interfere with the proper closure of the cover.
