  • Patent number: 6863044
Abstract: An air intake device for use with an internal combustion engine has an air cleaner case adapted to be mounted on the engine to extend longitudinally along an upper wall of the engine. An opening is formed in a longitudinal end portion of a bottom wall of the air cleaner case. An air cleaner body has an open end that is connected to the opening of the bottom wall of the air cleaner case thereby to communicate an interior of the air cleaner body with that of the air cleaner case. An air cleaner element is put between the air cleaner body and the air cleaner case in a manner to extend across the opening of the bottom wall of the air cleaner case.

  • Patent number: 6702293
Abstract: A seal member adapted to be mounted between a cylinder head cover and an ignition plug tube comprises a mount portion interposed radially movably between an upper surface of an annular stepped portion formed around an opening of the cylinder head cover for insertion of the ignition plug tube and a baffle plate. A first seal portion and a second seal portion project radially outward and inward, respectively, from the mount portion to be brought into contact with a peripheral surface of the annular stepped portion and the ignition plug tube, respectively. The second seal portion can be elastically deformed following relative radial movements between the mount portion and the ignition plug tube.

  • Patent number: 6503301
Abstract: A fuel vapor treatment canister is described. The canister includes a casing having first and second end walls between which an inside space is formed. The first end wall has a first opening in communication with a fuel tank, and a second opening in communication with an air intake passage of an engine. The second end wall has a third opening in communication with the atmosphere. The inside space includes first and second chambers. The first chamber is located closer to the first end wall than the second chamber. A first fuel vapor adsorbing material is disposed in the first chamber. A second fuel vapor adsorbing material and a heat-accumulative material are disposed in the second chamber. The heat-accumulative material is larger in specific heat than the second fuel vapor adsorbing material.

  • Patent number: 6213077
Abstract: A resonator type silencer connected to an air intake duct of an automotive internal combustion engine. The resonator type silencer comprises a first case having an open end section. A second case is fabricated separate from the first case. The second case has an open end section which is joinable with the open end section of the first case. The open end section of the first case includes an end edge portion having a linear projection extending along the end edge portion. The linear projection has an inclined face extending along the end edge portion and sloped down in a direction toward a surface of the open end section. The open end section of the second case includes an end wall portion. A guide wall is integral with the end wall portion and extending along an end edge portion of the open end section to define a groove extending along the end edge portion.

  • Patent number: 6101996
Abstract: An oil filter unit comprising a housing (4) and a filter element (14) accommodated therein is fitted to an engine (1) via a bracket (3) having a cylindrical holder (5). The housing (4) is secured to the holder (5) by screwing a male screw (19) on its outer circumference to a female screw (17) formed in the inner circumference of the holder (5). A first cut-out (24) is formed across the female screw (17) and a second cut-out (23) is formed across the male screw (19). When these cut-outs (24, 23) meet together, they form a drain passage which drains the oil in the housing (4) to outside. With this construction, the oil in the housing is drained via a predetermined path and prevented from scattering around, when the filter unit is removed from the engine (1).
