Abstract: A system for mapping System Management Facility (SMF) records to logical entities includes a processor, a storage accessible by the processor, and a mapping program that, when executed by the processor, causes the system to receive SMF records that contain information about events that occur in the system, determine correlation data between the events and related logical entities, generate a plurality of unique keys, associate each of the generated plurality of unique keys with a corresponding logical entity of the related logical entities, store, in a relational database in the storage, each of the logical entities associated with the associated unique key of the plurality of unique keys corresponding to each logical entity, and generate a report, or perform interactive statistical analyses.

Abstract: A system for use in predicting resources required for a program. The system including a processor, a storage device accessible by the processor, and a sequential file prediction program that when executed by the processor configures the system to access a history file to determine sizes of past sequential input files input to a customer program and sizes of resultant past sequential output files produced by the customer program processing the sequential input files, determine a correlation between the sizes of the past sequential input files and the resultant sizes of the past sequential output files, utilize the correlation to predict future sizes of future sequential output files based on the current sizes of current sequential input files, and utilize the predicted future consumption of the scalable resources to perform at least one of memory allocation or to determine scheduling for batch jobs being performed by the system.

Abstract: A system for use in restoring data processing capabilities in the event of an interruption. System including a user catalog program that when executed by a processor configures the system to store indexes of data utilized by the system, a system management facility (SMF) program that when executed by the processor configures the system to create SMF audit records that track the catalog activity as SMF data, and a virtual catalog program that when executed by the processor configures the system to intercept portions of the SMF data over a timeline. The portions correspond to the creation, deletion and modification of the data files, and catalog the intercepted portions of SMF data over the timeline.
