    Abstract: In a method and a device for moving a working means in the ground, a coupling means rotatable about an axis of rotation for establishing a drive connection between a push-pull unit and a rod assembly having at least one projection and/or at least one recess is engaged with the projection and/or the recess of the rod assembly such that via a first contact area of the coupling means a first feed force is transmitted from the push-pull unit to the rod assembly. By the counter force opposite to the first feed force a torque acting on the coupling means is generated, which torque presses a second contact area of the coupling means against the rod assembly with a contact force. By the contact force, a non-positive connection is established between the push-pull unit and the rod assembly. Via this non-positive connection, a second feed force is transmitted to the rod assembly. By at least a part of the first and second feed force acting on the rod assembly a linear movement of the rod assembly is caused.

A boring rod which urges the hammer forwardly and rotates it about the longitudinal axis is connected to the rear end of the housing through a connecting piece non-rotatably fixed, but slidable relative, to the housing so that the axially directed impact energy produced by the striking piston is not transmitted to the boring rod.

For better resisting loads applied to the anchor, the anchor shaft may have attached to it a helical worm. The anchor or anchors effectively brace the ramp of the boring machine against both tension and compressive forces with substantially no lateral loads being applied to the anchor; and the drive of the boring mechanism which is normally used for rotating and axially moving the boring rod of the mechanism may be used to emplace the anchor or anchors.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for enlarging a straight or arcuate pilot bore hole and the insertion of tubing in the enlarged bore is disclosed, in which the pilot bore hole 10 is enlarged by advancing a larger diameter housing with a conical enlarging head by impacting of a striking body mounted within a housing against the inside of the enlarging head at the forward end of the housing. Fluid jet cutting action is also employed and the pilot hole boring device may be coupled to exert a steady pull on the housing as it is advanced through the pilot bore. The housing may thus be connected to the pilot bore drilling device, with an interposed cushioning device. The fluid jets may be created by nozzle openings in the enlarging head or in a separate device mounted forward of the enlarging head.
