Patent number: 7191326Abstract: A computerized method and system for testing a function of an information-processing system. This includes providing an architecture having a set of test commands, the test commands including a set of one or more stimulation commands and a set of one or more result-testing commands, and defining a set of test verbs out of combinations of the test commands. This allows the test programmer to define an overall test program that uses the test verbs in writing a test program that specifies an overall function that will extensively test a system-under-test. The methods further includes executing a program that includes a plurality of test verb instructions and outputting a result of the program. In some embodiments, the present invention provides a computer-readable media that includes instructions coded thereon that when executed on a suitably programmed computer executes one or more of the above methods.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 2005Date of Patent: March 13, 2007Assignee: TestQuest, Inc.Inventors: Michael Louden, Francois Charette, Ryon Boen

Publication number: 20040081346Abstract: A computerized method and system for non-intrusive testing of an information processing system. This includes stimulating a system-under-test, capturing an image from the system-under-test visual output and one or more of the following: converting the captured image to a grey-scale bitmap, deriving pixel patterns from sub-portions of the captured image, normalizing the derived pixel patterns, scoring pixels in a pixel pattern according to color intensity, comparing pixel patterns with graphical object definitions, and finding and outputting matches taking into consideration tolerances for color, resolution, object spacing and overlap, and font kerning variation. The output is optionally a text string representing the recognized text within the captured image. The method and system also automatically learns new graphical object definitions when appropriately provided with graphical objects.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 18, 2002Publication date: April 29, 2004Applicant: TestQuest, Inc.Inventors: Michael Louden, Theron Weisz, Benjamin Music, Peter Lehman, David Haggerty

Publication number: 20030208542Abstract: A computerized method and system for testing an information-processing system-under-test. This includes using few system-under-test resources by driving native operating software stimulation commands to a system-under-test software test agent over a platform-neutral, open-standard connection, capturing an output from the system-under-test for comparison with an expected output for success determination. This also includes the use of a host testing system having a target interface for interfacing with a system-under-test by issuing a stimulation instruction to the target interface, processing the instruction to derive a stimulation signal for the system-under-test, and sending the signal to the software test agent running in the system-under-test unit. The use of the software test agent includes executing a set of test commands to derive and issue a stimulation input to the native operating software of the system-under-test based on a stimulation signal received from the target interface.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 18, 2002Publication date: November 6, 2003Applicant: TestQuest, Inc.Inventors: Gary Deming, Steven Shaw
