Abstract: A wheel restraint system especially useful for restraining break-away wheels on drive axles and also to trailer axles, having a tether, a cable end component, a thrust bearing, and a wheel retention subassembly which fits over a wheel hub, wherein the tether is secured to the vehicle, such as secured to the inside wall of a hollow axle or through a hollow axle to an opposing similar wheel restraint system.
Abstract: A bell lock wheel restraint system having an axle adapter to attach a bell to an axle, wherein the bell engages an outside face of a wheel away from a vehicle on which the wheel is mounted, and a bell retainer that secures the bell onto the axle adapter, thereby securing the wheel onto the vehicle in lieu of one or more failed lug bolts or lug nuts.
Abstract: A semi-trailer wheel restraint system having at least one bearing or swivel, or a combination of bearing(s) and swivel(s), and one or more cable sections and one or more hub cab attachments for receipt into one or more wheel assemblies and through a hollow core of the trailer's axle. During a wheel bearing failure, the wheel restraint system keeps the loose wheel assembly near the end of the axle by anchoring it to the opposite-end's hub cap, thereby preventing a run-away wheel assembly and providing an operator of the truck an opportunity to safely stop the rig.
