  • Patent number: 4969308
Abstract: An apparatus for delivering in strip form packaged drinking straws, includes a device for severing the strip on a pivotal drum. The severing device pivots to transfer the individual packed straws to a vacuum cylinder, which is intermittently pivotal to pick up the individualized straws from the drum, and transfer the individual straws to a conveyor section. The conveyor section includes a continuous loop of track having an upper linear section of track and a lower linear section of track. A plurality of pressure arms are connected to the track where, each contains a vacuum holding mechanism adjacent to a free end for retaining the individual straws. The vacuum cylinder is mounted to a slide mechanism which is translatory relative to the upper linear section of the continuous track to position the individual packaged straws on the pressure arms of the conveyor mechanism.

The tube (1) comprises cardboard which is coated with plastic material on both sides. The bottom (5) is quadrangular and is formed from the folded-over tube (1) of the pack, in the form of a fold closure. A portion (3) of the tube wall which adjoins the top edge of the tube (1) is folded on to itself and joined to provide a double-wall base strip (4) which is triangular from the side. The cover (6) which is injected on to the tube is prolonged over the top edge (28) of the double-wall base strip (6) by a web portion (13).To simplify the blank and enhance the quality of the pack, the invention proposes that the top (6) has two planes (6, 3) which are at an angle (.alpha.

  • Patent number: 4718598
Abstract: The invention describes a liquids package includes a tube formed by a longitudinal sealing seam and a bottom. A cover, which consists of thermoplastics synthetic material with no carrier mateial, is molded onto the tube and comprises a pourer device. The tube consists of coated cardboard. The bottom is tetragonal and is constructed from the folded-over tube as a folded-over closure. A handle connected to the cover is mounted laterally on the tube and below the cover. To allow the end user ease of handling and so that the package can be space-savingly stored and transported, while ensuring that the package can be produced from a flat strip of cardboard, while forming a quadrilateral outer contour of the package, the outside dimensions of the bottom are equal to the tetragonal cross-sectional dimensions of the package from the bottom to the cover. The handle together with the cover is injection molded on within the quadrilateral outer contours of the package.

  • Patent number: 4713048
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for production of containers for packaging liquids. Plastic-coated supporting material is drawn as a web from a supply roll in a first direction along a web path. At a first position, the web is cut into sheets. The sheets are conveyed along a transport path in a second direction transverse to the web path. At a second position, each sheet is partially shaped into a tube, and an edge of the sheet is folded over and sealed. At a third position, shaping is completed to cause the side edges of the sheet to join, and the tube side is sealed. A plastic lid is molded onto the top of each tube, and the bottom end is folded and sealed into a quadrilangular bottom.
