  • Patent number: 5244351
Abstract: A combined air vent and pressure switch are provided at the inlet of a liquid pump. The air vent is adapted to exhaust air from a supply line, such as a garden hose, and thereby substantially prevent the pump from running dry before water from the hose reaches the inlet. The pressure switch is connected to the motor of the pump and is adapted to signal the motor to stop if the pressure switch senses a low pressure condition at the pump inlet, such as when there is inadequate liquid or no liquid at the pump inlet. The features of the air vent and pressure switch combine to prevent the pump from being damaged by running the pump without adequate liquid supply.

  • Patent number: 5237893
Abstract: A fastener drive tool for applying a rotational torque to a threaded fastener for driving the fastener into or out of a workpiece. The drive tool has an elongated shaft portion with a free end which is engageable with a recess formed in the fastener. Alternating merging concave and convex partially-cylindrical surfaces are formed on the outside of the shank towards the free end of the drive tool. The axes of curvature of the concave and convex partially-cylindrical surfaces are generally parallel to one another. The drive tool has at least one interlobular fastener retention piece attached between two convex partially-cylindrical surfaces which engage a corresponding convex partially-cylindrical surface formed in the fastener recess. The interlobular fastener retention piece releasably retains the fastener on the drive tool when the drive tool is engaged with the recess formed in the fastener and prevents wobbling of the fastener when it is driven by the drive tool.

  • Patent number: 5234639
Abstract: A gasketing device for forming a molded interior trim component for a vehicle utilizes a flexible planar gasket compressed between mold halves to prevent foaming material from entering the gasket area. The gasket is adapted to be secured to a structural insert and has a flexible peripheral edge that seals against the inside surface of a bezel on the insert. The gasket extends through the opening defined by the bezel to seal against a skin shell. The method includes mounting the gasket on the insert. The insert and gasket are placed on a mold half with an opposing mold half having a skin shell thereon. A foaming formulation is placed between the skin shell and insert and allowed to foam about the gasket to secure the insert to the skin shell. The product is removed, the skin shell over the gasket cut and peeled away to form an opening in the shell dimensioned smaller than the dimensions of the peripheral edge of the gasket.
