Abstract: A method for managing the HF frequencies in a broadband communication network, comprises the following steps: determining the range of passing frequencies for a user for a given link and SLA service; establishing the set of authorized frequencies S? in the transmission range of the user with the different power and modulation configurations for each frequency; analyzing the received spectrum in order to determine the frequency or frequencies already used and deciding, on the basis of their associated usage type, whether they must be excluded; for each possible frequency fl of the set S??, determining the necessary power , i=1 . . . N, j=1 . . . m for each of the m possible rate/waveform configurations, taking into account the power limit on each frequency fl; allocating the frequencies fl of the set S?? to the different users, their modulation and their power, by taking account of multi-carrier constraints.

Abstract: A radiating phase-shifting cell is designed to favour the excitation of an equivalent resonance of the “slot” type in a first part of the phase cycle, and to favour an equivalent resonance of the “microstrip” type in a second part of the phase cycle. This property notably allows the bandwidth of the phase-shifting cells to be optimized. A phase range of 360° can in effect be segmented into two sub-ranges of around 180°. This segmentation into two sub-ranges is made possible by the complementarity of the resonant modes of the slot or microstrip type. The radiating phase-shifting cell is notably applicable to reflector arrays for an antenna designed to be installed on a space craft such as a telecommunications satellite or on a terrestrial terminal for satellite telecommunications or broadcasting systems.

Abstract: A portable entertainment system for a vehicle includes a portable housing, a transceiver, a processor, a memory, and a rechargeable battery. The transceiver communicates through RF signals with Portable Electronic Devices (PEDs) operated by vehicle passengers. The rechargeable battery supplies power to the transceiver, the processor, and the memory. The memory is coupled to the processor and includes entertainment content and further includes computer readable program code that causes the processor to communicate a list, of at least some of the entertainment content available in the memory, to the PEDs. A content selection message is received through the transceiver from one of the PEDs that requests communication of a selected one of the entertainment content identified in the list. The selected entertainment content is communicated through the transceiver to the PED. The transceiver, the processor, and the memory are enclosed within the portable housing.

A safety unit is associated with a vital supervision card (VSC) and vital power bus and the safety unit controls switchable connections from the vital power bus to the UAL and the SVL. Based on verification of UAL and SVL status, system control includes energizing the UAL.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein simplify the recognition of objects in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery. This may be achieved by processing the image in order to make the shadow caused by the object appear more similar to the object. Alternatively, this may be achieved by processing the image in order to make the layover caused by the object appear more similar to the object. Manipulation of the shadow caused by the object and the layover caused by the object may comprise altering the aspect ratio of the image, and in the case of manipulating the shadow caused by the image, may further comprise transforming the image by reflection or rotation. The aspect ratio of the image may be altered based on information about the image collection geometry, obtained by the SAR.
