  • Patent number: 4175677
Abstract: A double ended piston assembly is maintained in a cocked position in a stepped piston chamber under the influence of pressurized sensor gas. Loss of pressure results in the pistons being driven to an actuating position wherein a puncture element carried thereby fractures a frangible disc in a high pressure gas container. High pressure actuating gas from the container is then routed by the device to operate a responsive device.

  • Patent number: 4137467
Abstract: A circuit for interfacing with sensors having a loop current flowing therethrough comprising a current mirror utilizing multiple diode-connected transistors for dividing the loop current into several equal subparts and means connected to said current mirror for producing a latching output signal when the current equal to one subpart of the loop current exceeds a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 4001949
Abstract: A method and system for providing realistic on-line fire responses in accordance with the accuracy of an on-line fire fighting sequence employed by a fire fighter, including the steps of dynamically simulating the occurrence of an actual fire, establishing a predetermined fire fighting sequence to be followed by the fire fighter for properly extinguishing the simulated fire, monitoring the actual on-line fire fighting sequence employed by the fire fighter in fighting the simulated fire, comparing the actual fire fighting sequence employed by the fire fighter with the predetermined fire fighting sequence, and providing a reaction in accordance with a correspondence between the actual on-line fire fighting sequence employed by the fire fighter and the predetermined fire fighting sequence to provide realistic on-line fire responses.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 3990516
Abstract: A valve body contains a coaxially slidably valve element with a seal member at the upstream end and a pair of differential area pistons at the other end. Fluid passage means direct fluid from the upstream end to a zone between the pistons to cause the pistons to seat the seal member. An orifice in the downstream, larger area piston bleeds fluid to an accumulator of preselected volume. Once the pressure forces on the large piston balance, the pressure force on the small piston unseat the seal member.
