Abstract: A flow control valve with a valve closure element is provided having at least one annular resilient seat member and an annular flexible metal seat member positioned adjacent to it. The flexible metal seat is held in position by heat resistant gaskets and is biased against the resilient seat member. Upon the failure of the resilient seat to seal because of melting or deterioration caused by exposure to heat, the flexible metal seat member springs into position to provide a fire and heat resistant metal-to-metal seal with the valve closure element.
Abstract: Granular compositions are disclosed for use in preparing hard, water and erosion-resistant, shapes such as foundry molds and cores, that are self-setting under ambient atmospheric conditions to allow such shapes to be stripped from patterns on which they are formed, such pattern stripping being possible immediately after forming in the case of foundry cores and the like, and within controllable pattern strip times as low as 60 seconds for foundry molds. The shapes may be used without baking and, in the case of foundry molds and cores, are ready for casting molten metal within as little as one hour. Molds and/or cores free of organic materials can be formed with the novel compositions, providing essentially carbon-free surfaces at the mold-metal interface, as well as being free of other deleterious elements such as sulfur, phosphorus and boron, thereby avoiding alloy composition alteration at the interface due to migration during casting.
Abstract: A novel plastic composition, and process of its preparation and application, are disclosed having particular utility in providing metal castings or the like with bubble-free, highly inert, plastic linings or coatings. The predominant portion of the novel composition comprises a perfluoroalkoxy side chain modified fluorocarbon polymer but also includes, in effective minor amount, metallic tin and preferably also additional oxidation or degradation stabilizers.
Abstract: A cable guide for an impressed current tubular sacrificial anode is a cable conduit sized to enclose and hermetically seal an anode cable and a plurality of spacers removably mounted along the conduit at spaced locations and sized to fit in abutting relationship with the inside wall of an anode body. The cable guide is made from a corrosion resistant fluoropolymer plastic or similar material such as low density polyethylene. The cable guide prevents rebbing, wearing, or other types of abrasive damage that can be sustained by the insulation of the anode cable from the rough end of a partially oxidized tubular anode and protects the cable insulation from corrosive electrolyte solutions.
Abstract: Sacrificial tubular anode structures having a generally centrally located connection. This design gives a uniform metal consumption pattern, thus protecting the electrical connection from premature failure, preventing anode separation due to concentrated metal consumption, and reducing the tendency for gas blocking.

Abstract: This invention is directed to an improved method of forming and installing polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) lip seals and to a novel PTFE lip seal. The lip seals are formed by taking a flat, annular PTFE washer having given dimensions and stretching it over a tapered mandrel by pushing it toward the direction from which the fluid pressure will come in the sealing operation. The finished PTFE lip seals have a curved configuration. Both O.D. and I.D. lip seals are disclosed.
