Patents Assigned to The Eastern Co.
  • Patent number: 5714013
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of infusing coloration in solder to facilitate inspection of soldered portions in the production of electronic machinery, equipment and apparatus, and further, a method of forming a colored membrane on the surface of the soldered portions by employing colored solder materials. Physically and chemically stable colored powders composed of rare earth compounds or metallic fluoride compounds, having properties of specific gravity lighter than that of solder and further being indecomposable even at a temperature higher than that of the melting points of solders, are mixed into flux. After soldering by employing solder cream containing the mixture, a colored membrane or layer may be formed on the surface of soldered portions by deposition of the colored powder compounds.

  • Patent number: 5352325
Abstract: The present invention is a method of forming micro through holes in printed wiring board substrate materials by means of chemical etching. In a typical printed wiring board substrate material consisting of a resinous dielectric base material, (which may or may not incorporate glass fibers), clad on both sides by a conductive layer, after the dielectric material in specific locations where through holes are to be formed is exposed by typical processes in which the conductor layer is selectively removed by etching, said exposed dielectric material is first softened, then removed by chemical etching involving several steps and procedures as well as a variety of chemical solutions, under vibratory agitation, forming through holes in said locations of 100 microns diameter or less.

  • Patent number: 5110916
Abstract: The present invention discloses lanthanide series bisphthalocyanine complex compounds, wherein chemically and thermally stable side chains effective for the development of a functional film due to generation of solubility and liquid crystallization in a solvent. The compounds according to the present invention having no reacting positions at side chains thereof possess electrochromic properties and further possess excellent electrochemical characteristics. Moreover, these compounds are soluble in a solvent and show discotic liquid crystal phase. Therefore, these compounds are very effective for the development of a functional film.

  • Patent number: 5062990
Abstract: Octasubstituted tetraphyrazinotetraazaporphrazine and compositions forming an electron acceptable discotic liquid crystal phase are disclosed. Said compounds and the metal complexes are easily soluble in an organic solvent such as chloroform or dichloromethane etc and are insoluble in acetone and alcohols; and therefore a columnar phase by silica gel/dichloromethane, recrystallization from tetra-hydrofuran or refining through solid liquid extraction by acetone is possible. Furthermore, stability in a giant molecular can be expected and a functional membrane can be formed by a solution cast method etc., thereby employing as an electon or photoelectron material or an indication element.

  • Patent number: 4664561
Abstract: A system is disclosed for anchoring a tensioned bolt in a drill hole in the roof of a mine, or other such location. The bolt is threaded from one end and has a head on the other end which carries a standard bearing plate. The bolt passes through a hollow tube having an outer diameter slightly (e.g., 1/8") smaller than the bore hole diameter. The threaded end of the bolt engages a nut affixed to the upper end of the tube and extends through the nut to the end of the threads. A standard, mechanical, expansion anchor is carried on the threaded end of the bolt extending through the tube and is inserted into the drill hole behind a conventional, two-compartment resin package. As the bolt is pushed into the hole, the package is broken and the resin components are forced into the annular space around the hollow tube, as well as around the threaded end of the bolt and expansion shell.

  • Patent number: 4596496
Abstract: A truss system is disclosed for use in supporting the roof of a mine. The system comprises an assemblage of elements which permit more rapid and efficient installation than prior art truss systems which have generally been installed as a secondary operation, after the standard, required bolting pattern is in place. The present system, on the other hand, may be installed concurrently with and in fact may become part of, the standard bolting system. The system includes a pair of roof bolts installed in conventional fashion in drill holes extending at divergent angles into the mine roof on opposite sides of the mine opening. The bolts each extend through aligned openings in a bearing support plate and a separate angle block having a curved outer surface. The closed ends of a U-bolt, having a curvature corresponding to the surface of the angle block, extend around the two blocks with the open, threaded ends of the U-bolts facing one another.

  • Patent number: 3987296
Abstract: A remote control motor driven lamp with motors to drive the lamp assembly in two perpendicular planes and a motor to change the distance between the lamp filament and the reflector in such a manner as to vary the beam characteristics. The lamp is capable of being operated from at least one remote station enabling the operator to alter both the beam characteristics and the beam direction from the remote station.
