    Abstract: A display device for effecting a display of a colored image against a colorless background which has a mixture of a liquid crystal having, disposed between a pair of glass substrates, a positive dielectric anisotropy to serve as a host material and a dichroic dye to serve as a guest material, each of which substrates having a transparent electrode of a required pattern adherently formed on its inner surface, characterized in that at least a portion of said pattern of the transparent electrode on each substrate is subjected to a treatment for causing orientation of the molecules of the liquid crystal in a direction parallel to the plane of the substrate when no voltage is applied, and the remaining portions of said pattern and the inner surface of said substrate to be in contact with the liquid crystal are subjected to a treatment for causing orientation of the molecules of the liquid crystal in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the substrate when no voltage is applied.

    Abstract: A manual paper feed mechanism for a printer has a release lever adapted to permit mounting and demounting of a print paper to and from a platen, a paper feed gear for rotating the paper feed roller, a manual knob having a peripheral gear section engageable with the paper feed gear, and a manual lever supporting the manual knob rotatably and swingably towards and away from the paper feed gear. In addition, the mechanism has a first cam portion formed on the manual lever, and a second cam portion engageable with the first cam portion and formed on the release lever, such that the release lever is rotated in response to the operation of the manual knob and the paper feed gear in engagement with each other. This arrangement selectively permits the manual feed of the print paper by the manuel knob.

    Abstract: A control circuit for an auger type ice maker using a relay which is responsive to a predetermined level of an ice making water in a tank and to of a predetermined level of stored ice, and a timer circuit responsive to the commencement of the ice making cycle which corresponds to the detection of the water level and the completion of the ice making cycle which corresponds to the detection of the ice level, both by the relay. This timer circuit is arranged so that during the starting operation it starts to drive the auger motor at the beginning of the ice making cycle and then after a first predetermined time starts to drive the compressor, and during the stopping operation, it stops the compressor after a second predetermined time after the detection of the completion of the ice making cycle and then after a third predetermined time stops the auger motor. Should a short interruption of the supply of water occur, the timer circuit can ignore it because of its delay time.
