    Abstract: Embodiments of the invention may provide for a frequency synthesizer capable to generate an output signal in which the frequency is a fractional portion of the reference frequency without a fractional divider. Based on mathematical relationship (“relatively prime”) between the reference frequency and other injection frequencies mixed with the output signal of a voltage controlled oscillator, the synthesizer is able to generate signals evenly spaced in the frequency domain like Fractional-N PLLs. The synthesizer may include an Integer-N PLL, a SSB mixer, frequency dividers, and frequency multipliers. A Integer-N PLL may include a Phase and Frequency Detector, a Charge Pump, a Loop Filter and a Dual Modulus Divider. By not requiring a fractional divider, the frequency synthesizer is able to avoid adopting any compensation circuits such as Sigma-Delta modulator to suppress fractional spurs. Therefore, the chip area, power consumption and complexity will be reduced considerably.

    Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses are provided for linear envelope elimination and restoration transmitters that are based on the polar modulation operating in conjunction with the orthogonal recursive predistortion technique. The polar modulation technique enhances the battery life by dynamically adjusting the bias level. Further, the analog orthogonal recursive predistortion efficiently corrects amplitude and phase errors in radio frequency (RF) power amplifiers (PA) and enhances the PA output capability. Additionally, even-order distortion components are used to predistort the input signal in a multiplicative manner so that the effective correction bandwidth is greatly enhanced. Also, the predistortion scheme, which uses instantaneously feed-backed envelope distortion signals, allows for correction of any distortion that may occur within the correction loop bandwidth, including envelope memory effects.

    Abstract: A transverse electromagnetic (TEM) cell for measuring EM emissions. The TEM cell longitudinal axis is positioned at a fixed angle relative to the horizontal. This fixed angle results in the alignment of the orthoaxis of the TEM cell with the gravity vector. A rotatable platform for supporting an electronic device is positioned inside the TEM cell. The platform is mounted horizontally, and its axis of rotation is vertical (i.e. parallel to the gravity vector). Further, the rotation axis of the rotatable platform intersects the test volume of the TEM cell. Three mutually orthogonal components of EM emissions are measured successively by placing a device on the platform and rotating the device through two 120 degree rotations, thereby measuring three positions. Thus, it is not necessary to tilt the device from a normal, horizontal operating position in order to fully test its EM emissions.

    Abstract: An improved correlation method that computes E field measurements from voltage measurements produced by a TEM cell. Twelve voltage measurements are taken of radiation emanating from a device under test (DUT) for respective frequencies. The measurements are taken for the six faces of a hypothetical cube enclosing the DUT in both polarizations. Using these 12 measurements, the method identifies the face and polarization of the DUT which produces the highest emanation of radiation at that respective frequency. The method obtains three input voltages from these measurements and determines if the assumption of a dipole gain is adequate. If not, the actual gain is calculated and is used in a 3-input correlation algorithm to obtain more correct data regarding the E field emission of the DUT.

    Abstract: An automatic tilt apparatus for use with electromagnetic emission testing devices. The apparatus enables the user to always bore-sight, that is, to point the antenna directly at the object being tested regardless of the height of the antenna. The apparatus utilizes a cam plate to achieve automatic tilting. A threaded rod, connected to the vertical drive mechanism of the testing device converts the rotary motion of the sprocket drive to a horizontal motion. The threaded rod is located within a boom that connects to the testing device. The linear, horizontal motion of the threaded rod causes a first bolt within a slot of the boom to move. A cam plate is attached to the carrier boom via the first bolt and a second bolt which is fastened through an arcuate slot in the cam. The motion of the first bolt causes the second bolt to follow the geometry of the acrucate slot, thus causing The cam plate to tilt in accordance with the vertical height of the testing device.
