Patents Assigned to The Empire Plating Company
  • Patent number: 3977839
Abstract: Methods of coating metal articles to protect them from corrosion, and the products of such methods. Metal articles which have been electroplated with zinc, cadmium, nickel or chromium, are chromated, and coated with a hydrophobic thermosetting polymer, and heated to convert the polymer to a hard, adherent film. Multiple polymer coatings are applied prior to heat curing.

  • Patent number: 3972798
Abstract: An electroplating rack has a framework including a pair of interconnected uprights which support two vertically spaced grids. The grids have removable partitions for selectively forming different size apertures to receive long parts to be electroplated. Electrode bars underlie the lower grid and define exposed, upwardly facing electrode surfaces for engaging the lower ends of parts positioned in the grids.

  • Patent number: 3972785
Abstract: An electroplating rack has a framework including a pair of interconnected uprights which support two vertically spaced pairs of arms. Removable pairs of inserts extend between the distal ends of the arms. Electrode bars underlie the pairs of inserts and define exposed, upwardly facing electrode surfaces. The inserts are provided with spaced apertures to support long, thin articles stood on end with their lower ends contacting the electrode surfaces. Interchangeable inserts having apertures of different sizes enable the racks to efficiently support long thin articles of different sizes.

  • Patent number: 3961993
Abstract: Methods of coating metal articles to protect them from corrosion, and the products of such methods. Metal articles which have been electroplated with zinc, cadmium, nickel or chromium, or which have been phosphated, are chromated, and coated with a hydrophobic thermosetting polymer, and heated to convert the polymer to a hard, adherent film. Multiple polymer coatings may be applied prior to heat curing, and the corrosion resistance of the coating is thereby vastly improved.
