  • Patent number: 6866599
Abstract: A reinforced archery arrow shaft includes a tubular core, with an attached fabric sleeve covering the core. The core may include carbon therein. The sleeve is formed from a fabric material, which is wrapped around and affixed to the core. Preferably, the sleeve fabric carries a decorative design or pattern on the exterior surface thereof. In a method of making an arrow, a piece of fabric is placed covering a hollow tubular core, and is affixed thereto. Then, a resin or protective composition, associated with the fabric material, is cured to adhere the fabric to the core. The resin may be impregnated into the fabric prior to its placement on the core, or alternatively, may be applied to the fabric by conventional methods such as spraying, dipping, brushing, or powder coating. The shaft may be treated to make the exterior surface smooth after curing. Optionally, accessories may be attached to the arrow shaft to form an arrow.

  • Patent number: 6554727
Abstract: A deflection-resistant arrowhead includes a support body with a fixed spear-point blade attached to the tip thereof, and a plurality of pivotally attached, mechanically expandable blades. The expandable blades include integrally formed spurs at end portions thereof, which are provided to extend outwardly from the front of the support body, adjacent the base of the fixed blade, when the expandable blades are closed. The support body has slots formed in the sides thereof, to receive the pivotally attached expandable blades. The support body is also slotted at the front central portion thereof to receive the base portion of the fixed blade. The expandable blades normally remain in a closed configuration thereof, by means of an elastic retaining ring located behind the spurs. Upon contact with a target, the outstanding spurs force the expandable blades to open, simultaneously moving the retaining ring rearwardly on the support body.

  • Patent number: 6264271
Abstract: A folding chair, which is foldably collapsible in a scissors-like folding operation, forms a long narrow bundle when collapsed, which fits into a tubular bag. The folding chair includes a pivotally jointed backrest support member which can be placed in various configurations to allow reclining movement thereof. The folding chair includes a frame assembly and a flexible hammock-type of fabric seat member which is mounted on, and supported by, the frame assembly. In a preferred embodiment, the frame assembly includes a plurality of interconnected X-members. The X-members cooperate to define a cage member when the chair is in an open configuration thereof. The frame assembly further includes a position fixing mechanism for temporarily and disengagably fixing the position of the seat back, to allow the frame assembly to be temporarily locked in a particular orientation thereof.

  • Patent number: 6179558
Abstract: A filtering pump assembly for pumping and filtering a fluid includes a pump subassembly and a filter subassembly. The pump subassembly has an inlet portion with a first cross-sectional shape. The preferred cross-sectional shape of the inlet portion is circular. The filter subassembly includes a foraminous cage member, having an opening formed therein of a shape corresponding to the first cross-sectional shape of the inlet portion and being configured to fit engagably thereon. The filter subassembly also includes a filter element formed of a porous material for placement in covering relation to the cage member. The preferred filter element is either bag-shaped or formed as a cylindrical sleeve. Preferably, the filter assembly includes a retainer for retaining the filter element in covering relation to the cage member. The retainer may be an annular spring clip having two ends which overlap one another, and having a finger grip formed at each end thereof.
