Abstract: A step-in safety ski binding comprises a stirrup mounted to a support, a boot clasp is rotatably mounted to the stirrup and includes a first part which engages the ski boot sole and a second part which pivots on the bridging section of the stirrup. An elastic locking mechanism is provided laterally between the sole engaging part and the stirrup legs so that the boot sole can be automatically locked therein and is releasable therefrom upon application of a predetermined minimum separation force.

Abstract: A mechanism is provided for adjusting the effective length of the cable in a ski binding having a sole plate releasably secured to a ski by means of at least one tensioned cable. The adjustment mechanism comprises a rotatable support mounted on the ski to which an end of the cable is secured. The rotatable support includes a ratchet and pawl arrangement whereby the position of the end of the cable may be manually regulated.

Abstract: A molded athletic boot such as an ice skate boot or ski boot is formed of a lower portion to which is hinged an upper. The lower includes an upstanding extension on each side of the forward instep portion to which flexible straps are secured. The extensions are crossed and the straps pass through apertures in the upper to encircle the back of the boot. The straps may then be drawn tightly around the back of the boot and secured together to close the boot around the foot of the wearer.

Abstract: A conventional spinning reel has an adapter mounted on its spindle to receive a longitudinally symmetrical spool, the adapter holding the spool with adjustable friction tension against rotation and having clicking means to indicate rotation of the spool, the single symmetrical spool being suitable for mounting on both right and left hand spinning reels and being optionally disposable because of the simplified structure.

The cable passes about pulleys of said device, at least one of the pulleys being movable against the action of spring means to allow separation of the sole plate from the ski by withdrawal of cable.

Abstract: In a releasable ski binding of the type wherein a sole-plate is operatively connected to the ski by means of at least one cable tensioned by a return mechanism within the sole-plate, a winding support having two diameters intersects one end of the cable within the sole-plate so that, on release, the section of cable extending from the return mechanism winds on the periphery of the area of the winding support of smaller diameter while the section of cable connected to the ski simultaneously unwinds from the periphery of area of the support having the larger diameter.

Abstract: A fishing rod handle assembly has a forward portion for engaging one end of a rod blank, an intermediate reel seat portion to which a reel is to be fastened and a rearward portion including a butt grip. The forward and reel seat portions are positioned along a common longitudinal axis which extends through the rod blank while the butt grip is offset therefrom.

Abstract: A safety ski binding comprises a stirrup mounted to a ski or a sole-plate. Articulated to the stirrup is a toggle mechanism including a spring biased holding member arranged to engage the edge of the sole of a ski boot. The holding member is displaceable in a direction toward the toggle to release the boot upon application of a predetermined minimum separating stress.

Abstract: A buckle for securing a pair of opposed closure flaps of an athletic boot comprises a catch mounted to one of the flaps and a latch mounted adjacent to the catch on the opposite flap. A wireform is mounted to the latch by means of a shaft pivoted on the latch, the shaft being threaded into a wireform holder to permit for longitudinal micro-adjustment of the wireform. The pivotal connection between the post and latch is arranged to permit limited play for alignment of the wireform and catch and includes a biasing member which urges the wireform and shaft toward the flaps when the buckle is disengaged.

Abstract: A system is described wherein components such as a prepolymer and a curative are delivered by means of positive displacement pumps through a special valve at the upper end of a static mixing tube. The components pass down the tube while being intermixed to form a reaction mixture which is dispensed into a mold by means of a valve at the lower end of the tube. The special valve forms part of a recirculation system which permits bypass and recirculation of each component between dispensing operations so that the pump can continue to operate at constant velocity. The static mixing tube is pivotally suspended from an arm so that its lower end may be properly positioned with respect to a mold to be filled. Special end interlocked mixing vanes are provided in the static mixing tube for convenient disassembly.

Abstract: A lock fastener for a fishing reel which includes a first member formed with a threaded bore therein and adapted to engage the foot of a fishing reel and hold it in locked position on an associated fishing rod, a second member having a shank dimensioned to screw into the bore of the first member, the shank being recessed along a portion of its length and a lock member positioned between the first member and the recessed portion of the second member wherein the lock member prevents complete withdrawal of the second member from the first member but permits a limited amount of withdrawal so that the fishing reel may be readily removed from or locked onto the fishing rod.

Abstract: A support plate of a ski binding has a rigid boot sole hold-down loop slidably mounted on lateral guide profiles at an end of the support. The rigid loop has a central part which fits over the sole and bent, integral end parts terminating with complementary profiles fitting on the guide profiles of the support. Positioning notches on the support cooperate with notches of an element slidably mounted on the arms of the loop which can be clamped on the support to lock the loop in position. Alternatively, the notches are formed in the complementary guide profiles, and are clamped by a similar element slidably mounted on the loop arms.

Abstract: A safety ski binding comprises a sole grip pivoted on an end of a sole-supporting plate elastically connected to the ski by a flexible cable tensioned by a spring winder incorporated in the plate. A device for automatically opening the sole grip, after removal of the sole grip from the ski by withdrawal of the cable but before the cable is fully withdrawn, comprises a projection on the winder which actuates a lever to pull or push a transmission member which either disengages a bolt retaining the heel grip, or directly tips the grip open against the action of a biasing spring.

Abstract: A fixed spool fishing reel has a manually accessible winding cup carrying a line pick-up mounted at the forward end of a rotatable shaft disposed coaxially in the spool. The shaft and cup are movable axially from a rear reeling-in position in which the pick-up is above the spool to a forward casting position in which the cup and pick-up completely free the spool, a spring urging the shaft forwardly. The winding cup is manually accessible so that it can be rearwardly displaced by the fisherman's finger from the reeling-in position, to free it from a locking device whereupon the spring moves shaft and cup into the casting position, in which the finger is conveniently placed to catch and control the line.
