Patents Assigned to The Gibson-Homans Company
  • Patent number: 5229437
Abstract: A self-levelling continuous coating composition is disclosed. The composition is adapted for application on a surface of flooring material which contains asbestos. The composition encapsulates the hazardous material there in the floor and allows the addition of another layer of flooring to be installed thereover. The composition is comprised of about 40-55 parts by weight of a latex emulsion binder; about 2-7 parts by weight antifreeze; about 38-53 parts by weight hollow ceramic microspheres; and about 6-16 parts by weight water. The resulting composition can be applied in a single step application and does not require mixing of separate ingredients at the workplace.

  • Patent number: 4124045
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for uniformly filling a succession of containers with highly viscous fluid such as asphalt or plastic roof cement at high fill rates. A constantly running pump of constant discharge rate forces the viscous fill fluid along a descending pressure gradient through a recirculation circuit leading to a dispensing station midway along the descending pressure gradient and leading back from the dispensing station along a return path to fluid supply means for the pump. Timed discharge in the form of timed bleeding from the recirculation circuit at the dispensing station accomplishes fast, smooth, and stable initiation and termination of dispensing action. Adjustable metering of the return path gives further versatility to the system. A simple slideway conveyor for the containers being filled contributes to the cost savings achieved by the invention.

  • Patent number: 4117982
Abstract: Material conditioning apparatus particularly suited for disjoining compacted asbestos comprising a closed system in which material on a loading platform is manually fed into a delivery chute, directed by the chute to an agitating zone, and released upon adequate agitation through an outlet. Escape of airborne particulate matter from the system is avoided by delivery of material in a path generally tangential to an area of retreating blade movement, and control of air pressure and flow by means of an air inlet vent in the delivery chute.

  • Patent number: 4091457
Abstract: A mixing apparatus is disclosed comprising a vessel, a central shaft adapted to be rotationally driven and a stirrer arranged for stirring operation upon rotation of the shaft. The stirrer includes upwardly and downwardly extending interleaved blade assemblies arranged for relative rotation and a cross blade transversely extending from the shaft in a sawtooth pattern at the lower level of the blade assemblies. The downwardly extending blade assembly is stationary, and it is carried by an upper support member fixed to the vessel. The upwardly extending blade assembly is carried by a lower support arm fixed to the shaft for rotation therewith. The cross blade extends along the lower support arm, and it comprises a plurality of elements each connecting and extending between a pair of adjacent upwardly extending blades or the shaft and an upwardly extending adjacent blade.
