Abstract: A handle. The handle can have a main body and a first substantially flat arm having a first distal end and a first proximal end defining a first arm opening can be coupled to a first location of the main body. A second substantially flat arm having a second distal end and a second proximal end defining a second arm opening, can be coupled to a second location of the main body. The first and second distal ends can be in spaced relationship and have pivotally coupled therebetween a pivoting head having a trapezoidal prism shape.

Abstract: A blade carrier assembly with a blade carrier having a blade platform at a first end. A tab extends from the blade platform to a second end. A blade is mounted to the blade platform. The blade a cutting edge. The tab has a crest configured to engage a handle. The crest is positioned between a pair of angled surfaces of the tab.
Abstract: This invention relates to a novel application of hard, low friction aluminum magnesium boride (AlMgB14, also known as BAM) based ceramic coatings to surfaces of razor components and in particular to blade edges of razor blades. On razor blade edges, these coatings may elevate blade performance, while also simplifying the manufacturing process.

Abstract: An apparatus for testing a razor blade comprises a base, a material support table, a material sample, a transport carriage, a blade retention assembly, and a razor blade. The material support table is supported by the base. The transport carriage is movably coupled with the base and is movable with respect to the material support table between a start position and an end position. The blade retention assembly is movably coupled with the transport carriage and is movable with respect to the material support table between a blade-engaged position and a blade disengaged position. The blade retention assembly is movable together with the transport carriage between the start position and the end position. The blade is releasably attached to the blade retention assembly. The razor blade contacts the material sample when the blade retention assembly is in the blade-engaged position. Methods are also provided.
Abstract: Sensor-based shaving systems and methods of analyzing a user's shave event are described for determining a unique threshold value of the user. A grooming device comprises a handle having a connecting structure connected to a hair cutting implement. A shave event sensor associated with the grooming device measures a user behavior, which includes collecting a first dataset comprising shave data defining a shave event. The first dataset is transmitted via a communication device and is analyzed to determine baseline behavior data of the user, and a unique threshold value of the user is determined from the baseline behavior data. One or more subsequent datasets, each comprising shave data of one or more corresponding shave events, is compared to the unique threshold value to determine comparison data. An indication is provided, based on the comparison data, to indicate a deviation from the threshold value and to influence the user behavior.

Abstract: A handle for an electrically operated personal-care implement includes a metal tube housing having a metal wall with an opening and an inner surface, the inner surface defining an inner cavity of the housing for accommodating an energy source, and a switch assembly for activating the energy source. The switch assembly, including a hard switch component and a soft switch component, is arranged in the opening and seals the opening from the inner surface of the wall. The hard switch component comprises a frame having a recess and attached to the inner surface of the metal wall thereby surrounding the opening and providing an undercut between the recess and the inner surface. The undercut is open to the opening, and the soft switch component is positioned in the undercut to at least partially cover the opening.

Abstract: A head for an oral-care implement, having an elongated mounting surface with an outer circumference, includes two outer rows of tufts extending from the mounting surface along the longitudinal axis in proximity to the outer circumference, and two inner rows of tufts extending from the mounting surface and arranged between and parallel to the outer rows. The tufts of the outer rows have a longitudinal extension and an elongated cross-sectional area perpendicular thereto. The elongated cross-sectional area has a longer axis and a shorter axis, wherein the longer axis defines an angle ? of about 20-65 degrees relative to the longitudinal axis. The tufts of the outer rows are inclined relative to the mounting surface by an inclination angle (?) of about 65-80 degrees. The tufts of the inner rows are inclined relative to the mounting surface by an inclination angle (?) of about 60-85 degrees.
Abstract: An oral care implement comprises a head and a handle, the head being repeatedly attachable to and detachable from the handle. The head is made from a non-magnetic and/or non-ferromagnetic material, while the handle is at least partially made from a magnetic and/or ferromagnetic material.

Abstract: A razor blade having a substrate with a cutting edge being defined by a sharpened tip. The substrate has a thickness of greater than about 2.30 micrometers measured at a distance of four micrometers from the blade tip, a thickness of greater than about 4.26 micrometers measured at a distance of eight micrometers from the blade tip, and greater than about 7.93 micrometers measured at a distance of sixteen micrometers from the blade tip. A hard coating joined to the substrate has a thickness of 700 Angstroms to about 3500 Angstroms. An outer layer joined to a coated substrate is discontinuous. The outer layer may be produced from a dispersion comprising about 0.03 g/L or less of telomer or from about 0.5 % solids or less of telomer by weight of composition. The novel razor blade cuts at less than 100 % cutting efficiency using a single fiber cutting efficiency measure.
