  • Publication number: 20240139881
Abstract: An engraving machine may have a housing, a receptacle, and a laser head located within the housing. The receptacle may receive an item to be engraved. The laser head may have a laser generator. The engraving machine may have a gripper head to retrieve the item from the receptacle and to position the item relative to the laser head. The engraving machine may have a controller. The controller may receive an inscription to be engraved on the item, determine a distance of the laser head from the item, and position the laser head at the determined distance. The controller may also cause the laser generator in the laser head to emit a laser beam for engraving the item. Further, the controller may cause the gripper head to dispense the item into a dispensing bin.

  • Publication number: 20240054849
Abstract: A self-service kiosk includes a housing and an imaging device in a key fob receptacle in the housing. The imaging device captures an image of a master key fob placed in the receptacle. The kiosk includes a key fob dispenser having a dispensing slot to receive a duplicated key fob and a dispensing mechanism to dispense the duplicated key fob into the dispensing slot. The kiosk also includes a processor that receives an image from the imaging device, and detects a presence of the master key fob in the key fob receptacle based on an analysis of the received image. Upon detecting the presence of the master key fob, the processor reads codes stored on the master key fob, writes the codes on a blank key fob to generate the duplicated key fob, and causes the dispensing mechanism to dispense the duplicated key fob in the dispensing slot.

  • Patent number: 11850698
Abstract: An automatic knife sharpening machine may include a vice to grip a blade of a knife and a pair of grind wheels to grind material from the blade. The machine may include a scanner to determine a profile of an edge of the blade, and a sharpness sensor to determine a sharpness level of the edge. The machine may include a controller. The controller may perform a first sharpening pass on the knife by moving the grind wheels into contact with the blade, and advancing the grind wheels longitudinally along the blade from adjacent the vice towards a tip of the blade with the grind wheels in contact with the blade. The controller may determine, using the sharpness sensor, the sharpness level of the edge after the first sharpening pass and perform at least one second sharpening pass when the determined sharpness level is less than a threshold sharpness level.

  • Patent number: 11836561
Abstract: A key fob duplication device is disclosed. The duplication device may have a housing and a display device attached to the housing. The duplication device may also have a controller enclosed within the housing. The controller may read data stored in the first key fob. The controller may also determine whether the first key fob can be duplicated based on the data. When the data indicates that the first key fob can be duplicated, the controller may write the data of the first key fob and an indicator value on a second key fob. The indicator value may indicate that the second key fob cannot be duplicated. When, however, the data indicates that the first key fob cannot be duplicated, the controller may display a message on the display device, indicating that the first key fob cannot be duplicated.

  • Patent number: 11810090
Abstract: A key-duplicating system comprises a network that includes a multiplicity of kiosks at a multiplicity of different locations, each of the kiosks having a customer interface and a processor coupled to the customer interface. A remote central server coupled to the kiosks is adapted to receive, from the kiosks, information identifying master keys to be duplicated. A key analysis module uses the information identifying master keys to be duplicated to derive information required to produce duplicates of the identified master keys, and a key duplicating module uses that information to produce duplicates of said identified master keys.

Abstract: A machine is disclosed for use in duplicating features of an existing key within a key blank. The machine may have an identification module configured to capture data associated with the features of the existing key, a fabrication module configured to cut the features in the key blank based on the data, a user input device, and a controller in communication with the identification module, the fabrication module, and the user input device. The controller may be configured to regulate operation of the identification module and the fabrication module, and to receive input from a user via the user input device. The input may be indicative of the user being a first type of user or a second type of user. The controller may also be configured to selectively implement one of a first mode of operation or a second mode of operation based on the input.

  • Patent number: 11572915
Abstract: A cement board screw a high thread that begins on the tapered end, extends onto the shank and terminates at a second axial location along the shank. The high thread defines a high peripheral edge, where a leading flank and a trailing flank meet at the high peripheral edge and together define a high thread angle that is between about thirty degrees and about fifty-five degrees. A low thread begins on the tapered end, extends onto the shank and terminates substantially at a first axial location along the shank such that an axial length of the low thread is less than an axial length of the high thread. The low thread includes a leading flank and a trailing flank that meet at a low peripheral edge and together define a low thread angle that is between about fifty degrees and about seventy degrees.
