Patent number: 4993750Abstract: A page holder for a photo album is described wherein photo pages can be conveniently entered or removed from a photo album. Hinge retainers are placed on lower and upper ends of the spine of the photo album. In the preferred embodiment, each hinge retainer is formed of a pair of spaced-apart pier segments, an end wall and an overlying bridge segment so as to form a holding space in which the hinge ends of a photo page are retained. The bridge segments have slots that are aligned and oriented generally along the spine so as to freely pass the hinge ends. A closure element laterally slides along the bridge segments so as to cover or open the slots. Several embodiments are described.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 1990Date of Patent: February 19, 1991Assignee: The Holson CompanyInventors: Thomas Hoffmeister, Sheldon Holson

Patent number: 4916838Abstract: A photo holder is described which can be smoothly applied to a page in a photo album. The photo holder has a peripheral border that nests inside the opening of a retainer frame while a peripheral holding edge fits beneath the frame. In one embodiment the photo holder is formed of a photo mat that is mounted on a backup sheet. The backup sheet is shaped and sized to extend past the photo mat to form the peripheral holding edge with angled sides that converge at a corner to form the protruding region. The photo mat is sized to nest inside the retainer frame. Various embodiments are shown and described including a photo holder with sides so cut that these form corners to facilitate insertion below the edge of the retainer frame.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1988Date of Patent: April 17, 1990Assignee: The Holson CompanyInventor: Sheldon Holson

Patent number: 4294029Abstract: A photo album page of the type including a laminated base having means for engaging on each side thereof a photograph supporting frame element. The mounting edge of the page is provided with hinged means formed by a pair of tape strips which engage the base along one side thereof, and an extruded hollow channel forming member along a second side thereof. A relatively stiff wire engages the channel forming member to be frictionally retained therein, the free edges of the wire projecting from the channel to selectively engage a known binding.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 1980Date of Patent: October 13, 1981Assignee: The Holson CompanyInventor: Sheldon Holson

Patent number: 4267655Abstract: A low cost photographic print album having a plurality of individual leaves affixed to the cover by gluing. Each leaf includes a paper filler member enclosed within a synthetic resinous envelope which forms an interstice on each side of the filler for the reception of a print. A pair of paper spacers is provided between the surfaces of the filler member and the envelope adjacent the edge of the leaf which is secured to a cover enclosing a plurality of leaves, so that as the album is filled with prints, the cover does not raise during the expansion of the leaves.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1979Date of Patent: May 19, 1981Assignee: The Holson CompanyInventor: Sheldon Holson

Patent number: 4263357Abstract: A photographic album page comprising a fibrous centrally disposed lamina and a pair of overlying clear synthetic resinous laminae. Pockets are formed by ultrasonic sealing of the clear laminae together through the fibrous lamina which disintegrates under the generated heat of sealing. The pockets are thus formed as a continuous sealing operation at the same time the page is laminated by sealing in broken lines, whereby the fibrous lamina retains its structural integrity.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 1980Date of Patent: April 21, 1981Assignee: The Holson CompanyInventor: Sheldon Holson

Patent number: 4019937Abstract: The application discloses a means and method for manufacture and assembly of a known pivotally mounted sleeve-type photographic print display device. The display device comprises a relatively rigid planar cardboard base to which there are pivotally attached to at least one surface thereof in mutually staggered relation, a plurality of individual open-ended flattened sleeves, each having a paper insert of congruent dimensions. Attachment to the base is by an adhesive strip which forms a hinge.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 1976Date of Patent: April 26, 1977Assignee: The Holson CompanyInventor: Sheldon Holson

Patent number: 4019943Abstract: A photographic album page formed of a single blank of paper progressively folded to form three plies including apertured outer laminae and a centrally disposed inner lamina therebetween. Photographic prints are positioned and frictionally maintained between one of the outer laminae and one surface of the inner lamina to be removed or adjusted as desired. The inner lamina includes laterally extending projections positioned outwardly of the side edges of the outer laminae to facilitate insertion of prints into pockets formed therebetween. By forming the entire page from a single elongated web, a continuous line operation employing automated production machinery is possible.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 1976Date of Patent: April 26, 1977Assignee: The Holson CompanyInventor: Sheldon Holson

Patent number: 4001960Abstract: A padded type photo album cover construction incorporating a metallic frame disposed within an opening therein for supporting a photographic print in exposed condition in substantially the plane of the exposed outer surface of the cover. The invention includes a novel method for manufacture of the product, whereby wastage of material is eliminated, together with a corresponding saving in labor. The construction may be incorporated into albums already existing.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 1976Date of Patent: January 11, 1977Assignee: The Holson CompanyInventor: Sheldon Holson
