Abstract: A method of mass production of tetrakis(p-nitrophenyl)porphyrins, by which successful isolation of the barely soluble product from meso-aryl nitration of tetraphenylporphyrin toward a remarkable yield of nearly 90% has been realized by means of a solid phase extraction technique. This is a simpler and more straight forward synthetic method, suitable production at an industrial scale with lower cost, shorter synthetic time and lower solvent consumption.
