  • Patent number: 7619749
Abstract: Ultra-precision freeform surfaces are important to the development of complex and micro-optical-electro-mechanical devices used in many photonics and telecommunication products such as F-theta lenses for laser printers. These surfaces are complex and large scale surface topologies with shapes that generally possesses no rotational symmetry. Due to the geometrical complexities of these ultra-precision freeform surfaces, it is difficult to characterize the form accuracy and surface quality of freeform optical surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20090259338
Abstract: A robotic system for rehabilitation using EMG signals to provide mechanical help includes EMG electrodes (6) sequentially connected in series, a DAS card (2) and a control portion (1), and further includes an actuator (3) connected to the DAS card (2) and an additional moment providing portion (4) connected to the actuator (3). The EMG electrodes sense EMG signals corresponding to the muscle of suffering joint, and input the sensed EMG signals to the control portion (1) through the DAS card (2). The control portion (1) uses the input EMG signals and a constant moment set as desired to calculate an additional moment to be applied to the suffering joint, and additional moment providing portion (4) is controlled to apply the corresponding additional moment to the suffering joint through the DAS card (2) and the actuator (3).

  • Publication number: 20090251076
Abstract: The present invention relates to temperature compensation of HID lamps in automobiles. The invention concerns the manner in which the temperature of the HID lamp is accounted for in order to drive the lamp is at appropriate power from hot to cold conditions. In the present invention, the voltage across a capacitor in the temperature compensation circuit is sensed and used as a command signal to anticipate lamp temperature, and accordingly the reference power to the HID lamp is modulated depending on the temperature of the lamp. In the present invention, the lamp is driven with a higher power setting when the lamp is cold and with lower power setting when hot. This adaptive generation of reference power setting depending on the temperature of the lamp is implemented using the voltage across a capacitor in the temperature compensation circuit.

  • Patent number: 7593531
Abstract: A digital communication system based on the use of chaotic carriers is disclosed. For each symbol to be sent, the transmitter sends a reference chaotic signal followed by a transformed version of the reference chaotic signal. For different symbols, different transformations are performed. Also, the transformations are designed such that the transformed versions of the reference chaotic signal do not resemble the original reference chaotic signal. As a consequence, little information can be deduced by inspecting the frequency spectrum of the transmitted signal. Moreover, even if the communication could be detected, it is difficult to decode the messages because there are numerous transformations possible.
