Patent number: 5904334Abstract: A dispensing valve for dispensing a liquid including a valve housing having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, an armature positioned in the housing, the armature being reciprocal between an open and closed position, a sealing disk fixedly secured to a sealing end of the armature for sealing engaging a valve seat positioned about the fluid outlet for providing selective fluid communication between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet and a flow control device positioned in the fluid outlet for providing a substantially quiet and constant flow of liquid through the fluid outlet. The flow control device including a high pressure region and a low pressure region downstream of the high pressure region with the high pressure region of the flow control device including a flow control orifice having an inside diameter less than a diameter of the fluid outlet and the low pressure region of the flow control device intersects the high pressure region of the flow control device.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1997Date of Patent: May 18, 1999Assignee: The Horton CompanyInventors: Jordan Bryce Grunert, James R. Patent number: 5855355Abstract: A fluid flow control device for maintaining a substantially constant predetermined rate of flow through a control valve including a fluid flow passage for directing fluid flow through the valve, a resilient fluid flow rate control washer positioned in the fluid flow passage for maintaining a substantially constant predetermined rate of flow through an outlet of the fluid flow passage irrespective of a pressure of the fluid in the passage and fluid flow conditioning washers for conditioning the flow of fluid through the flow rate control washer with the fluid flow conditioning washers being movable with respect to the flow rate control washer for aiding in the conformability of the flow rate control washer. Preferably, at least two fluid flow conditioning washers are positioned upstream of the flow rate control washer and at least one fluid flow conditioning washer is positioned downstream of the flow rate control washer.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1997Date of Patent: January 5, 1999Assignee: The Horton CompanyInventors: Jordan Bryce Grunert, James R. Patent number: 5738138Abstract: A control valve assembly for selectively controlling a flow of fluid through a fluid flow system is disclosed including a valve housing having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, a valve seat positioned about the fluid outlet and a sealing diaphragm for cooperating with the valve seat for selectively sealing off fluid communication between the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet. The diaphragm fluidically separates a pressure chamber from a control chamber within the housing. A central control orifice is formed in the diaphragm for fluidically communicating between the control chamber and the fluid outlet, an armature is reciprocally received in the housing for selectively sealing off fluid communication between the control chamber and the fluid outlet with at least two bleed orifices formed on the diaphragm which fluidically communicate between the pressure chamber and the control chamber.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1997Date of Patent: April 14, 1998Assignee: The Horton CompanyInventors: Jordan Bryce Grunert, James R. Patent number: 5413308Abstract: A spring biased normally open solenoid actuated valve includes a valve body having a valve seat defining a valve port, located between an inlet port and an outlet port, that is controlled by a spool. When the solenoid is de-energized, the valve spool is biased open by a compression spring. The valve spool may include a double seal assembly expanding the range of operating pressures for a given spring force. The double seal assembly includes a rod having first and second ends with the first end secured to a stem of the spool. A retainer including a first sealing surface is secured to the second end of the rod. A sealing member, longitudinally moveable along the rod, is concentrically located on the rod adjacent the retainer and includes an inner valve seat and a second sealing surface such that the first sealing surface contacts the inner valve seat and the second sealing surface contacts the valve port when the solenoid is energized thus closing the valve.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 1993Date of Patent: May 9, 1995Assignee: The Horton CompanyInventor: William R.
