Abstract: A liner for use with a container having a slot in a side wall that defines a handle. The liner comprises a liner body having an opening in a side region thereof. A flap extends from a position above the opening a distance sufficient to allow the flap to be wrapped around the handle. The flap may be folded downwardly over the exterior of the handle, inwardly through the slot and under the bottom of the handle, and upwardly over the interior of the handle to form a cover for the handle. Part or all of the flap may be padded to cushion the handle. The liner may include a fastener, such as a hook and loop closure, for releasably fastening the flap to the liner body around the handle, thereby securing the liner to the container.
Abstract: A unitary basket having at least two bottom portions at different elevations that define deep and shallow basket portions. A plurality of upsplints form a wall of the deep portion and the bottom of the shallow portion, which extends transversely from the top of the wall. A weave strip positioned immediately below the basket bottom panel extends over the outer surface of the outermost upsplints in the wall panel. A short splint positioned adjacent to the wall panel extends over the outer surface of the outermost upsplints in the bottom panel. The consecutive oversplints urge the upsplints inwardly and upwardly to define a sharp angle between the wall and bottom panels. The method includes the steps of weaving the oversplints over the outermost upsplints in the wall and bottom panels.

Abstract: An apparatus for facilitating the construction of rectangular hand-woven baskets. The apparatus provides a guide, or mold, for shaping the interior of the basket. The mold has a generally rectangular bottom with rounded corners. Four sides extend obliquely from the bottom. The upper ends of the side walls are longer than the lower end of the side walls to allow removal of the finished basket from the mold. Adjacent lateral edges of the side walls join to define rounded corners. A concave indentation is provided in the upper end of the side wall. The indentation is deepest at the lateral center of the upper end of the wall and tapers gradually toward the adjacent corners and the lower portion of the side wall.
Abstract: A spring-actuated basket form including a platform, a spacer housed within a cavity recessed below the platform surface, and a pair of reinforcement guides. The reinforcement guides form a space therebetween capable of removably receiving a reinforcement splint during basket assembly. The spacer's perimeter wall communicates with the inner wall of the cavity. A spring is coupled to the spacer to facilitate tensioned movement of the spacer within the cavity. The spring urges the spacer and its associated movable reinforcement guide toward the other guide to retain a reinforcement splint within the space. An adjustable alignment rim may be provided on the platform surface at a distance from the reinforcement guides.
