  • Publication number: 20060236778
Abstract: A measuring assembly measures the adhesion between a fixed part and a movable part wherein the fixed part and movable part have ice extending therebetween. The measuring assembly includes a chamber for maintaining the ice, the fixed part and the movable part and the movable part at a predetermined temperature. A tension generator applies a force to the movable part to separate the movable part from the fixed part. A tension gauge measures the force required to overcome the adhesion between the movable part and the ice to remove the movable part from the fixed part. The test pieces (fixed and movable parts) are easily reproduced and coated with various coatings allowing direct comparison and evaluation of coatings in regards to ice adhesion.

  • Patent number: 7083682
Abstract: A coating assembly paints a coating on a plurality of articles having first and second article portions. The coating assembly includes a rail frame defining a longitudinal path for the plurality of articles to travel along. An endless chain having a chain portion thereof extending along the longitudinal path transports the plurality of articles along the longitudinal path. The coating assembly also includes a painting station for applying a coat of paint to the first article portion of each of the plurality of articles while preventing the coat of paint from extending to the second article portions of each of the plurality of articles. The painting station includes a plurality of spray nozzles fixedly secured to the rail frame on either side of the endless chain. Each of the plurality of spray nozzles are offset from each other along the longitudinal path such that the first article portions are entirely covered by the coat of paint as the plurality of articles pass thereby.

  • Patent number: 5393346
Abstract: A method and apparatus for applying a liquid coating which can be cured to a dry film to a plurality of fasteners each with a blind recess therein without accumulating excessive coating in the blined recesses. The fasteners are received in a cage with a cylindrical sidewall which is rotated with its axis inclined at an acute included angle of about 25.degree. to 65.degree. to the vertical and a speed of 1 to 30 rpm to circulate the fasteners while the liquid coating is sprayed onto the fasteners in the rotating cage. The fasteners with a liquid coating thereon are heated to a temperature of about 325.degree. F. to 425.degree. F. for 10 to 30 minutes to cure the coating to a dry film adhered to each fastener.
