  • Publication number: 20040255420
Abstract: A pad driver for use with a floor maintenance machine that includes a riser portion and a driver disc portion that defines a driving surface which is engageable with a floor maintenance pad. The riser includes a radial flange which extends outwardly from a central hub. The radial flange includes a rim portion supported radially outwardly from the hub by a plurality of spoke-like regions. Regions of reduced material thickness separate the spoke-like regions. The hub is generally cup-shaped and includes a planar upper disc portion and a stepped, transition portion that joins the upper disc portion with the radial extending flange. A plurality of radially extending, rigidizing axial ribs extend between the underside of the upper disc portion and the inside of the stepped transition portion. The driver disc portion may comprise a separate driver disc attached to the riser or alternately, comprise a plurality of driving elements molded into the radial flange.

  • Patent number: 6108856
Abstract: A molded pad driver for use with floor maintenance machines including structure that defines a circular disc-like body, the body defining a driving surface that is abuttably engageable with a driven surface of a floor maintenance pad to which it is attached. The driving surface is at least partially defined by a plurality of sets of protrusions with each set of protrusions preferably consisting of a plurality of protruding members arranged in a circular patterns, such that each protruding member of a set is at a slightly different orientation with respect to all of the members of a set, as viewed from a plane parallel to a plane of the pad driver. Each protruding member preferably consists of an arrowhead member including a stanchion that extends axially from a base surface on the pad driver and terminates in an arcuate crossbar that extends generally laterally with respect to the rotational axis of the pad driver.

  • Patent number: 5806132
Abstract: A coupler is disclosed for coupling floor maintenance pads to a pad driven disc. The coupler has one part which is mounted to or from an integral part of the driver disc and a second part which snaps onto the first part for holding and centering a maintenance pad to a disc. A spring lock arrangement is provided for preventing the coupler from separating and comprises a spring clip carried by the retainer engageable with recesses formed on an axially extending locking post forming part of the base part. The spring clip is held to the retainer by a pair of keepers which define slots having diverging cross-sections. The spring clips include a pair of elongate legs interconnected by a bridging segment on one end and a pair of finger engageable pressure pads on opposite ends by which the spring clip is squeezed to spread apart the legs. Both the retainer and base include fluid supply openings through which floor treating fluids can be dispensed onto the floor.
