Abstract: A modular office system incorporating a detachable clip for harnessing utility wires which run through the furniture. The clip may be mounted to frame members of the furniture at predetermined positions to organize and retain specific wires. The clip includes a pair of inwardly curved fingers which form an expandable slit through which wires may be fed for retention within an opening. A divider may be removably mounted to the clip for dividing the opening thereby facilitating tight retention and organization of wires.

Abstract: A modular office system incorporating a housing bracket for retaining wiring running through the office system. The bracket includes a pair of cooperating housing members adapted to be secured to a support member of the furniture. The housing members are joined to form a passageway through which the wires are run. The housing bracket is detachably connected to the support for simple relocation. Hooks on each of the housing members are received in corresponding slots of the support member. The housing members are joined by a fastener to form the wire passageway. A mounting plate secured to the bracket can be used to mount accessories such as power strips within the modular furniture assembly.

Abstract: A modular office system incorporating tubular beams forming the structure of the furniture and facilitating the running of electrical, phone and computer wiring through the tubular beams. In order to provide entry and exit from the tubular beams for the wiring, plastic grommets are mounted within openings in the tubular members. The grommet includes a frame mounted to the tubular member and having an oval opening. A closure member is mounted within the opening of the frame. The closure includes a pair of flaps which selectively facilitate passing of wire through the grommet. The flaps are connected to a center portion by a living hinge allowing the flaps to be moved inwardly to open a portion of the grommet opening.

Abstract: A modular office system incorporating a frame construction with improved stability to support components of the office system. The frame construction generally includes upright supports and crossbeams. The uprights and crossbeams have a tubular configuration to allow the passing of utility wiring. The crossbeams include triangular gussets to improve the support connection between the uprights and crossbeams.

Abstract: A modular office system incorporating wall panels with interlock edges to facilitate assembly. The substantially planar panels include a plurality of tabs extending from one side edge of the panel. The tabs are lockingly received within corresponding slots of an upright support member. To prevent disconnection of the panels, a retractable fastener bar can be selectively slid into locking engagement with the support member. The fastener bar is positioned within the panel and movable between a retracted position and an extended position engaging the upright support. A threaded fastener may be used to prevent sliding movement of the bar.

Abstract: A locking system for a file cabinet which prevents opening of more than one drawer of the cabinet. The locking system includes a camming system which blocks opening of any secondary drawers after a first drawer has been opened. A rotatable cam having a hook mounts to an individual lock lever. The hook engages an opening in the file drawer or door to prevent retraction while also blocking the interlocking mechanism for the file drawers.

Abstract: A four point locking system for a storage cabinet having a pair of outwardly pivotable doors which provide access to the cabinet interior. The locking system includes a lock bar vertically disposed in each door and adapted to be moved downwardly into the bottom lintel of the cabinet. A plunger bracket is pivotably mounted within the top of the cabinet and includes plunger flanges which move down through the top lintel of the cabinet into each door to lock the top portion of the cabinet doors while simultaneously moving the lock bars downwardly to lock the bottom portion of the cabinet doors. The pivotable movement of the plunger bracket is controlled by a lock push bar which is directly connected to a lock push button extending through the front of the cabinet. An extension spring is utilized to bias the push bar and plunger bracket towards the unlocked position while compression springs attached to the lock bars bias the bars upwardly to their unlocked position.
